STUDYING JESUS FROM THE BIBLE. NUM- THE  LIFTED BRAZEN SERPENT  Tue 31st  Dec  2024

The Lord Jesus Christ commanded his faithful followers of all generations to search the scriptures. Everything from Genesis to Revelation, the entire sixty-six books talks about him alone.  JHN 5: 39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The book of Numbers revealed our Lord Jesus Christ as the LIFTED BRAZEN SERPENT. Num 21:8-9 .

Numbers  21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.  21:9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

The New Testament confirmed it so.  Jhn 3:14-15..

John  3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. brazen serpent  was a command by God to Moses, to bring an end to the death of the children of Israeli, when they were bitten by fiery serpents, because of their sins of rebellion.  Num 21:5-8,

Numbers  21:5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.  21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.  21:7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.  21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

How we need to learn the same lesson today, that God will punish sins, wherever He sees it, in the church or outside the church. Eze 18:20, Rom 6:23.

Ezekiel  18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

Romans  6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The book of Numbers foretold the suffering of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. Sinners of all generations, blinded and destined for hell, which will by faith look at the cross and appropriate his vicarious sacrifice will have pardon and abundant life.

  1. LIFTED JESUS MEANS FOR CALVARY”S BLESSINGS.  JHN 12:32, ISA 50:5-6, 53: 4-7, MK 15;34,  HEB 2:9-10, 1ST PET 3:18,  REV 5:9-10. John  12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me   Isaiah  50:5 The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.  50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.   Isaiah  53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.  53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.   Mark  15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?   Hebrews  2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.  2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.       1 Peter  3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:     Revelation  5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;  5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.    If the suffering of Christ was real and have so much benefits to us He expects us to lift him up, in every areas of our lives. 1st Tim 4:12, WE MUST LIVE.  CHRISTLIKE LIFE FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.      1 Timothy  4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 2 Cor 5:14-15. WE MUST LOVE HIM FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. 2 Corinthians  5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:  5:15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.   1 Pet 4:1-2 WE MUST LIVE TH REST OF OUR LIVES DOING HIS WILL.      1 Peter  4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;  4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God. 2 Cor 5: 18-20. WE MUST BECOME HIS AMBASSADOR FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES.

2 Corinthians  5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

2.    LOOKING UNTO  JESUS FOR CALVARY”S BLESSINGS.  Today if by faith we will always look only  to Jesus , all our needs here on earth and eternity  will be provided.  Isa 45:22, Zech 12:10, heb 12:2, Jhn 6:37, Heb 7>25.

Zechariah  12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Hebrews  12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

John  6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
