Thy word have I hid in mine heart [ I keep your law in my heart ], that I might not sin against thee. - Psalms 119:11

Thy word have I hid in mine heart [ I keep your law in my heart ], that I might not sin against thee. – Psalms 119:11

Dearly beloved brethren, I rejoice with you and celebrate you in particular.

This is because, while the worldlings globally turns their back to Christ and are fighting against Him, you in particular, choose to be associated and identified with Him. I pray for you with all my heart that you will profit immensely here and hereafter, for identifying with Christ in Jesus name.

But then, when you identify with Christ, there is something, you must not be doing. See it.

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart [ I keep your law in my heart ], that I might not sin against thee. – Psalms 119:11

This is because, every sin commited is against God. See what the Bible says.

Genesis 39:9 There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
Psalms 51:3-4 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

No wonder David resolved to avoid this highly punishable attitude, by hiding God’s words in his heart. This noble attitude should be embraced by you too, as a lifestyle for your well being, now and at eternity.

Thy word have I hid in mine heart [ I keep your law in my heart ], that I might not sin against thee. – Psalms 119:11

Beloved, because of the importance of this gracious lifestyle, the Bible in divers ways, both in the old and new testaments, encouraged saints of all ages and you in particular, to hid God’s unfailing unchanging and eternal words in your heart. See some of them.

Job 22:22 Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
Psalms 119:97 O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Psalms 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalms 37:31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
Psalms 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
Isaiah 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.
Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
Luke 2:51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart [ I keep your law in my heart ], that I might not sin against thee. – Psalms 119:11

Beloved to further have a full understanding of hiding God’s words in your heart, see how this passage of the Bible was amplified.

Thy word have I hid in my heart –

He must treasure up those portions of God’s word in his mind and heart which speak against uncleanness of every kind; and that recommend purity, chastity, and holiness. The word of Christ should dwell richly in him. If God’s word be only in his Bible, and not also in his heart, he may soon and easily be surprised into his besetting sin.

Thy Word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee; rather, thy promise To have God’s word of promise laid up in the heart is the only security against being surprised into sin.

Here is, 1. The close application which David made of the word of God to himself: He hid it in his heart, laid it up there, that it might be ready to him whenever he had occasion to use it; he laid it up as that which he valued highly, and had a warm regard for, and which he was afraid of losing and being robbed of. God’s word is a treasure worth laying up, and there is no laying it up safely but in our hearts; if we have it only in our houses and hands, enemies may take it from us; if only in our heads, our memories may fail us: but if our hearts be delivered into the mould of it, and the impressions of it remain on our souls, it is safe. 2. The good uses he designed to make of it: That I might not sin against thee. Good men are afraid of sin, and are in care to prevent it; and the most effectual way to prevent is to hide God’s word in our hearts, that we may answer every temptation, as our Master did, with, It is written, may oppose God’s precepts to the dominion of sin, his promises to its allurements, and his threatenings to its menaces

Receive grace to follow this laudable and noble attitude, till Christ comes in Jesus name.
