Dearly beloved brethren, both in the old and new testaments, saints and Bible believing believers, like you are exhorted, that, your desire to live righteously, shall expose you to trouble and difficulties in the hands of lawless persecutors.
Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
When our Lord Jesus Christ was here during His earthly ministry, He experienced the same. Even, His close associate joined forces with the Sanhedrin to hurt Him.
Jn 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Jn 13:21 When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
They draw nigh that follow after mischief [ Those who devise wicked schemes are near ]: they are far from thy law. – Psalms 119:150
Paul apostle experienced same in the hands of lawless Judaizers and the heathen.
2Co 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2Co 7:5 For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.
Some times, it would seem as if these lawless persecutors will overwhelm you, but God’s timely intervention shall truncate their wicked intentions.
2 Timothy 4:16- 18 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
This tireless attacks from lawless persecutors, was the concern of king David at this time.
In the days of backsliding wicked and jealous king Saul. There were times that, he and his supporters would caught up with David, but some how, God would deliver him.
See this yourself.
They draw nigh that follow after mischief [ Those who devise wicked schemes are near ]: they are far from thy law. – Psalms 119:150
1 Samuel 24:2-3 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats. 24:3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
Beloved in the same way God delivered king David from the hands of Saul and others, so also the good Lord shall do for you too in the hands of your lawless persecutors in Jesus name.
2 Corinthians 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
