Dearly beloved brethren, there was something that distinguished saints in the old testament and believers in the new testament.

They don’t do iniquity.

1. Saints in old testament.

They also do no iniquity, wrong, unrighteousness or practice evil: they walk in his [ Gods ] ways, directions and footsteps. – Psalms 119:3

2. Believers in the new testament.

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

The reasons for this are numerous, but then, it is for their sakes and your own sake in particular.

See some of them.

1. Iniquity ruins.

Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

2. It turns good things from God away from the one doing it.

Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

3. It separate the person from God and make his or her prayers unanswered.

Isa 59:1 — Isa 59:2 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Psa 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,the Lord will not hear me:

They also do no iniquity, wrong, unrighteousness or practice evil: they walk in his [ Gods ] ways, directions and footsteps. – Psalms 119:3

4. It opens door for sicknesses and diseases and untimely death.

Psa 107:17 — Psa 107:18 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

5. It separates the person from Jesus for all eternity.

Mat 7:21 — Mat 7:23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

They also do no iniquity, wrong, unrighteousness or practice evil: they walk in his [ Gods ] ways, directions and footsteps. – Psalms 119:3

But then God is willing to pardon the one doing it, if he or she acknowledge it and genuinely repent.

Mic 7:18 — Mic 7:19 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

In addition, Jesus’s redemptive work on the cross, redeems from all iniquity..

Tit 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works

Acts 3:26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.

They also do no iniquity, wrong, unrighteousness or practice evil: they walk in his [ Gods ] ways, directions and footsteps. – Psalms 119:3

Beloved to help you to be free from iniquity and it’s consequences now and at eternity, take advantage of the compassion of God and the redemptive work of Christ. Then hate it with passion like Jesus.

Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Always remember this. Iniquity is anything and everything, the Bible refers to as sin.

Jeremiah 5:25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you

The good Lord shall help you in particular to be wise unto salvation in Jesus name.
