Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | March 14, 2020. Enrich and Sustain your relationship with Jesus reading our daily devotional – Exodus 4:24-26 – And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
Beloved, I praise the Lord for you because your profession of being a child of God, your profession of being a true and faithful believer and follower of our Lord Jesus Christ is not empty.
During the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, someone asked Him a question that should give you in particular a concern. See the question and the gracious answer our Lord gave in response
Luk 13:23 — Luk 13:24 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
If you are going to live with our Lord Jesus Christ for all eternity as a result of His passionate prayer for you in particular, then you must determinedly strive to enter and remain on the strait gate, till the trumpet sound. See His passionate prayer just for you.
John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Because God the Father, your loving Father in heaven has answered the prayer of Christ for you, validate this answered prayer by entering and staying on the strait gate till the trumpet sound and you are raptured. You shall be part of the dawning rapture in Jesus name.
Mat 7:13 — Mat 7:14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Beloved, you must also understand and appreciate what will help you to be kept on the strait and narrow road that leads to heaven and also what can bring anyone out irrespective of the numbers of years such have being walking there.
The one singular thing that can make you immovable on that road is consistent delight some obedience to God’s entire unchanging and eternal words.
Jeremiah 7:23 But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.
One singular thing that can take anymore out of the road is compromise and disobedient to the words of God. This was the undoing of king Saul and everyone and anyone else who follow his bad example.
1Sa 15:22 — 1Sa 15:23 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
However, there is a steep price to be paid by all the faithful followers of Christ and you in particular, before you can render consistent obedience to God’s word.
See this instance to give you a better understanding.
Moses whether among his brethren or far away from them, was a descendant of Abraham.
He ran to Midian to escape the sword of Pharaoh after slaying an Egyptian.
In the foreign land, he got married to a foreign woman who was fiercely averse to circumcision ofl their male children.
This had been an issue and the wife had resisted circumcision of their children.
Now God had called Moses. He could not go back to his brethren with uncircumcised male children and God was set to discipline Moses for his failure to obey the commandment on circumcision.
Moses insisted this must be done. Although it was done, but at a very steep price for Moses.
The wife separated from him and returned to her country with the children of Moses.
Praise God Moses played the man, he continued the journey and fulfilment of the call without the support of the wife, and also hindered from training the children in the way of the Lord.
The wife was brought later, later by his father in-law, but after Moses had suffered separation for many years and have spoiled the children too.
You will notice that none of the two children of Moses had nothing to do with the service of God. What a steep price to pay?
Exo 4:24 — Exo 4:26 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the Lord met him, and sought to kill him. Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me. So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.
you.
Beloved, like Moses as you follow the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully, you are going to have conflict with others and sometimes members of your household who disagree with what you believe and that will surely open door for unavoidable persecution.
John 17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
Now that you have received the word,, you shall suffer inexplanable hatred from everyone who does not believe what you have received. It is more painful, when they are members of your household.
Jn 17:14 — Jn 17:16 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
However, if you are hated, it is the common lots of those who believe the entirety of God’s unfailing words either in the old or new testaments. In fact our Lord suffered same faith. See it yourself.
Jn 15:18 — Jn 15:21 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
Don’t be surprised if you are hated. Don’t backslide. God will see you through in Jesus name.
1Jo 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate
The reason why you should not be surprised is because, every genuine followers of Christ are raised to defend the gospel with their life and blood. Don’t ever forget this.
Philippians 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
As you defend the gospel of our Lord, you shall suffer for it. It is unavoidable, except you compromise or backslide. This shall not be your portion in Jesus name
Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Beloved, see the following saints who suffered for believing and obeying the entirety of the word of God.
Our Lord Jesus Christ was not exempted. In fact, He was killed for defending the gospel. See it.
1. Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Mat 26:63 — Mat 26:68 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
2. Stephen
Act 7:51 — Act 7:60 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it. When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
3. The three Hebrews.
Dan 3:14 — Dan 3:23 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands? Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
4. Daniel
Dan 6:10 — Dan 6:16 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him. Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
5. John the beloved.
Revelation 1:9 I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
6. Paul kept in prison for two years for refusing to give Felix the governor bribe.
Act 24:25 — Act 24:27 And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee. He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him. But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix’ room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound.
7. Jeremiah thrown into the dungeon because of God’s unfailing words.
Jer 38:1 — Jer 38:6 Then Shephatiah the son of Mattan, and Gedaliah the son of Pashur, and Jucal the son of Shelemiah, and Pashur the son of Malchiah, heard the words that Jeremiah had spoken unto all the people, saying, Thus saith the Lord, He that remaineth in this city shall die by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth forth to the Chaldeans shall live; for he shall have his life for a prey, and shall live. Thus saith the Lord, This city shall surely be given into the hand of the king of Babylon’s army, which shall take it. Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt. Then Zedekiah the king said, Behold, he is in your hand: for the king is not he that can do any thing against you. Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.
8. Joseph thrown into the prison for refusing to commit immorality with the wife of his master.
Gen 39:7 — Gen 39:10 And it came to pass after these things, that his master’s wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. But he refused, and said unto his master’s wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand; There is none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
Gen 39:17 — Gen 39:20 And she spake unto him according to these words, saying, The Hebrew servant, which thou hast brought unto us, came in unto me to mock me: And it came to pass, as I lifted up my voice and cried, that he left his garment with me, and fled out. And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, which she spake unto him, saying, After this manner did thy servant to me; that his wrath was kindled. And Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king’s prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison.
Beloved, remember, if you are going to be ready for the dawning rapture and God shall help you to be ready in Jesus name. You must keep the entirety of the word of God, even if your blood will be splitted. See it.
Rev 3:10 — Rev 3:11 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Revelation 2:25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
God’s grace is sufficient for you. So whatever God permitted for you to suffer for believing Christ, receive grace of God to do so in Jesus name.
2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
2Co 12:9 — 2Co 12:10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
