Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | June 18, 2020 | LESSONS FROM LEADERS IN THE BIBLE – NEHEMIAH | THE JOY OF THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH |Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength. – Nehemiah 8:10
Beloved, our Lord Jesus Christ through His exemplary lifestyle, revealed to believers of all ages and you in particular, how the pursuit of the joy of the Lord should be your priority in life.
He knew going to the cross and suffer would restore back to humanity, their lost relationship with God His Father. Even though it was painful for His flesh, but then, His sacrifice would bring multitude into the kingdom of God, so He joyfully submitted to the painful sacrifice. This was an example of bringing joy to the Lord, despite the cost. See it.
Luke 22:41-42 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

The Bible further reveals some other things, believers like you pursuing the joy of the Lord can be doing..
1. Paying any price to see sinners brought to the kingdom.
Acts 5:40-42 And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.
2. Going extra mile to see sinners come to biblical repentance.
Luk 15:7. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance

3. Determination to pay any price for you to make heaven and partake in the marriage supper of the Lamb.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Revelation 19:6-9 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
4. Giving joyfully for the advancement of the kingdom of God, when it is not convenient for you.
2 Corinthians 8:1-5 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.
This was exactly what Nehemiah, Ezra and the Levites were doing, encouraging the Jews who were weeping bitterly and sorrowful, when they discovered how they had erred ,after hearing the word of God read to them from the law of Moses. See it.
Neh 8:9 — Neh 8:10 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law. Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Beloved, be determined henceforth to pay any price for the advancement of God’s kingdom, till you meet Jesus in the sky, after the dawning rapture. The good Lord shall help you in particular in Jesus name.
