Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88

Dearly beloved brethren, Bible believing believers like you, should aspire to be obedient to God after the order of our Lord Jesus Christ. See what the scriptures says about Him.

Hebrews 5:7-8 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

But then to help you realize this laudable and novel aspiration, you must earnestly look up to God to enable you, by His all sufficient grace.

Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88

This is because, without His help you can virtually do nothing.

Phi 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Rom 9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.
John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Without the enablement of Christ, you can not attain desired spiritual growth.

No wonder king David aspiring to be obedient to God in all things, desired enabling grace of God to do so. See his prayers.

Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88
Psalms 119:25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.
Psalms119:37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.
Psalms 119:40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.
Psalms 119:107 I am afflicted very much: quicken me, O LORD, according unto thy word.
Psalms 119:149 Hear my voice according unto thy lovingkindness: O LORD, quicken me according to thy judgment.
Psalms 119:156 Great are thy tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy judgments.
Psalms119:159 Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O LORD, according to thy lovingkindness.
Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88

See this scripture in other Bible version.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:88 – According to Your steadfast love give life to me; then I will keep the testimony of Your mouth [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it].

See this scripture amplified.

Psalms 119:88

Here is, 1. David in care to be found in the way of his duty. His constant desire and design are to keep the testimony of God’s mouth, to keep to it as his rule and to keep hold of it as his confidence and portion for ever. This we must keep, whatever we lose. 2. David at prayer for divine grace to assist him therein: “Quicken me after thy lovingkindness (make me alive and make me lively), so shall I keep thy testimonies, ” implying that otherwise he should not keep them. We cannot proceed, nor persevere, in the good way, unless God quicken us and put life into us; we are therefore here taught to depend upon the grace of God for strength to do every good work, and to depend upon it as grace, as purely the fruit of God’s favour. He had prayed before, Quicken me in thy righteousness (Psalms 119:40); but here, Quicken me after thy lovingkindness. The surest token of God’s good-will toward us is his good work in us.

Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88

Beloved, your own desire too, to be more Christlike shall be granted as you pray earnestly like king David did.

The good Lord shall help you to be conformed to the image of Christ and bring glory to His name in Jesus name.

Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Quicken me [ Preserve my life according ] after thy loving kindness; so shall I keep the testimony [ obey the statutes ] of thy mouth. – Psalms 119:88

They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87

Dearly beloved brethren, there are times, when it seems that saints of God or Bible believing believers like you are overwhelmed with challenges. But then somehow, by the invincible might of God, they are brought out of them.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

It was like Joseph was going to be forgotten in the dungeon, but God brought him out of it.

It was like the furnace of fire would end the life of the three Hebrews, but they came out of it.

It was like an end had come to Daniel, but he came out of the den of lions.

It was like Hanan would destroyed Mordecai and the Jews, but he was hanged on the gallows he made.

It was like our Lord would not rise the third day, but He rose triumphantly. See this.

Psalms 124:1-8 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; 124:2 If it had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up against us: 124:3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: 124:4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: 124:5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. 124:6 Blessed be the LORD, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. 124:7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. 124:8 Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.
They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87

This overwhelming challenges severally happened to Paul apostle, but our Lord brought him out.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
2 Corinthians 7:5-6 For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
2 Timothy 4:16-17 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87

At this point in the life of king David, he was overwhelmed with persecutions and persecutors. He held unto God’s unfailing promises and he was delivered. See it yourself.

They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87
Psalms 119:69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
Psalms119:78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.
Psalms 119:83 For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.

See this scripture in other Bible versions and it been amplified.

NLT
Psalms 119:87 They almost finished me off, but I refused to abandon your commandments.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:87 They had almost consumed me upon earth, but I forsook not Your precepts.

Amplified.

They had almost consumed me upon earth; or, “made an end of me,” “destroyed me.” But I forsook not thy precepts (. Persecution made the psalmist cling the more to God’s Law.

In deed the Lord said many are the afflictions of the saints of God, but they shall be delivered.

Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87

It could be this is your present situation. Do exactly what other saints and king David did.

You also by the invincible might of God shall be delivered in Jesus name.

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
2 Corinthians 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;

So hold unto the unfailing promises of God and your testimony is sure very soon in Jesus name.

They had almost consumed [ destroyed and swiped ] me upon earth; but I forsook not thy precepts, teachings, commandments and statues. – Psalms 119:87

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | January 17, 2021 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | All thy commandments are faithful

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me ] - Psalms 119:86
All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me ] - Psalms 119:86

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me, Help Thou me ] – Psalms 119:86

Dearly beloved, be acquainted with some passages in the Bible and live by them as reality of them unfold.

See some of them.

1. Jesus Christ our Lord said, Bible believing believers like you, shall suffer serious persecutions on this side of heaven.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

2. The blessed Holy Spirit said, Bible believing believers like you must through much trouble enter the kingdom of heaven.

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

3. He went on to say, godliness shall bring you in particular a Bible believing believer, to unavoidable persecution.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me, Help Thou me ] – Psalms 119:86

4. He added that you should not be surprised about these unavoidable persecution but rejoice.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

5. The blessed Holy Spirit said you should not be astonished for been hated by the worldlings, because of your righteous stance.

1Jo 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

6. The glorified Lord of lords and our Master from glory said, you should endure these persecutions to the end and He would reward you.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me, Help Thou me ] – Psalms 119:86

Perhaps this might be your present situation. But then, it is not peculiar to you alone. This was exactly the situation of king David at this time. He was severely persecuted for standing for righteousness. See it yourself.

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me, Help Thou me ] – Psalms 119:86
Psalms 119:69 The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.
Psalms 119:78 Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

See this scripture in other Bible versions.

NLT
Psalms 119:86 All your commands are trustworthy. Protect me from those who hunt me down without cause.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:86 All Your commandments are faithful and sure. [The godless] pursue and persecute me with falsehood; help me [Lord]!

See it been amplified.

All thy commandments are faithful; literally, are faithfulness. This is said in respect of the promises attached to them. They (ie my enemies) persecute me wrongfully; or, “with lies”—lyingly .Help thou me; ie help me against them, so that their “lies” may do me no harm.

But then, king David was imploring God to help him to persevere to the end.

This was exactly what our Lord Jesus Christ said to Bible believing believers of all ages and you in particular.

Mar 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

The good Lord helped king David. He will surely help you in particular, too in Jesus name.

All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. [ With falsehood they have pursued me, Help Thou me ] – Psalms 119:86

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? – Psalms 119:84

Dearly beloved brethren, Bible believing believers and you in particular are grateful to God, for given us a glorious and gracious Redeemer. He taught us the right way of the Lord and did exactly what He taught us.

Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

Our Master and Lord taught us what Bible believing believers should be doing with their persecutors and He Himself did same. See it yourself.

Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
1Pe 2:21 — 1Pe 2:23 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? – Psalms 119:84

See what He taught us.

Mat 5:43 — Mat 5:48 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

The blessed Holy Spirit toyed the path of our Redeemer , complementing His teachings on what Bible believing believers like you should be doing with your persecutors. See some of them.

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Rom 12:17 — Rom 12:21 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
1 Peter 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? – Psalms 119:84

Beloved Bible believing believers like you must not follow the examples of old testament saints. They usually sought vengeance from God on their persecutors. This was the stance of king David at this point. See it yourself.

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? – Psalms 119:84

See this same passage in other Bible versions.

NLT
Psalms 119:84 How long must I wait? When will you punish those who persecute me?

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:84 How many are the days of Your servant [which he must endure]? When will You judge those who pursue and persecute me? [Rev. 6:10.]

See it amplified.

Here, I. David prays against the instruments of his troubles, that God would make haste to execute judgment on those that persecuted him. He prays not for power to avenge himself (he bore no malice to any), but that God would take to himself the vengeance that belonged to him, and would repay (Romans 12:19), as the God that sits in the throne judging right. There is a day coming, and a great and terrible day it will be, when God will execute judgment on all the proud persecutors of his people, tribulation to those that troubled them; Enoch foretold it (Jude 1:14) whose prophecy perhaps David here had an eye to; and that day we are to look for and pray for the hastening of. Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly. 2. He pleads the long continuance of his trouble: “How many are the days of thy servant? The days of my life are but few ” (so some); “therefore let them not all be miserable, and therefore make haste to appear for me against my enemies, before I go hence and shall be seen no more. ” Or rather, “The days of my affliction are many; thou seest, Lord, how many they be; when wilt thou return in mercy to me? Sometimes, for the elect’s sake, the days of trouble are shortened. O let the days of my trouble be shortened; I am thy servant; and therefore, as the eyes of a servant are to the hand of his master, so are mine to thee, until thou have mercy on me.”

How many are the days of thy servant? when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me? – Psalms 119:84

Beloved, you can not and you must not pray this kind of prayer, but must as a matter of compulsion follow the gracious example of our Master and Lord.

Receive grace to do so in Jesus name.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes and decrees. - Psalms 119:83

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes and decrees. – Psalms 119:83

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83

Dearly beloved brethren, persecutions ,trials and afflictions suffered by Bible believing believers are in deed painful .

The joy believers have are the rewards awaiting them after the cruel trials.

This was the focus of our Master and Lord, that helped Him to overcome. See these two passages.

Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Phi 2:5 — Phi 2:11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83

Beloved it was because of this, that , the blessed Holy Spirit exhorts believers of all ages and you in particular, to persevere in your trials, as permitted by your loving Father in heaven.

1 Peter 1:7-8 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1:8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Because our Lord was victorious over His entire difficulties, He left example for you to follow His step and be victorious too. This shall help you to receive great rewards too.

1 Peter 2:21-23 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83

Beloved see what the scriptures says about believers challenges.

2 Corinthians 4:16,-18 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
Hebrews 10:32-33 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; 10:33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.

This was exactly the position of king David. His afflictions and trials have gotten to the climax. But he held on to God’s words and persevered. See it yourself.

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83
Psalms 119:23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
Psalms 119:51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.
Psalms 119:161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

See the passage in other Bible versions.

NLT
Psalms 119:83 I am shriveled like a wineskin in the smoke, but I have not forgotten to obey your decrees.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:83 For I have become like a bottle [a wineskin blackened and shriveled] in the smoke [in which it hangs], yet do I not forget Your statutes.

See it amplified.

For I am become like a bottle in the smoke. Keble’s paraphrase brings out the true sense— “As wine-skin in the smoke, My heart is sere and dried” Wine-skins were smoked to toughen and harden them. Yet do I not forget thy statutes. The severity of the discipline does not alienate me from thee, or cause me to depart from thy Law .

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83

Beloved brethren, please persevere in your present travails like our Lord Jesus Christ, king David and saints of old.

Then your reward in heaven shall suffice for the permitted trials you shall go through. The good Lord shall help you in particular in Jesus name.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

For I am become like a bottle [ Though I am like a wineskin ] in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes. – Psalms 119:83

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | January 13, 2021 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | Mine eyes fail for thy word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

Mine eyes fail for thy word [ My eyes are straining to see your promises come true ], saying, When wilt thou comfort me? – Psalms 119:82

Dearly beloved brethren, God’s unfailing timely promises shall not elude you in particular in Jesus name.

Always remember, when you have received promises from our loving and ever faithful and unfailing God, realize this important factor that facilitates the fulfilment of such promises.

God has appointed time for everything and He works religiously according to His time table. See this yourself.

Gal 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Jesus Christ our Lord came to this world, according to the time table of our Father in heaven.

The singular reason why multitude in the global church have missed the fulfilment of God’s unfailing promises, was their unwillingness to wait for God’s appointed time.

Mine eyes fail for thy word [ My eyes are straining to see your promises come true ], saying, When wilt thou comfort me? – Psalms 119:82

Beloved, see these exhortations from the blessed Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 6:12-15 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, 6:14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 10:35-39 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:though it tarry, wait for it;because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Abraham and Sarah received the fulfilment of their long awaited promised child, whose name was laughter, because they waited for His appointed time. See this.

Genesis 21:1-2 And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. 21:2 For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
Mine eyes fail for thy word [ My eyes are straining to see your promises come true ], saying, When wilt thou comfort me? – Psalms 119:82

This was the plight of king David at this time. God’s promises to him was taken some time, but he resolved to hold unto God’s unfailing eternal unchanging words. See it yourself.

Mine eyes fail for thy word [ My eyes are straining to see your promises come true ], saying, When wilt thou comfort me? – Psalms 119:82

See this scripture amplified.

Mine eyes fail for thy Word. Yet even here his “eyes fail”—he has looked so long for the aid promised, and it has not come. Saying, When wilt thou comfort me? “Lord, how long?” is the constant cry of God’s servants under affliction or persecution. When will relief come and the tyranny be overpast?

Waiting for that help, assured that it will come, and tarrying till it come: But I hope in thy word and but for hope the heart would break. When the eyes fail yet the faith must not for the vision is for an appointed time, and at the end it shall speak and shall not lie.

Beloved like king David, patiently wait for God’s unfailing promises. It shall be fulfilled in its season.

Luke 1:19-20 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 1:20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Psalms 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

Beloved, the good Lord shall help you in particular, as you patiently wait for God’s appointed time for the fulfilment of His unfailing timely promises in your life.

My soul fainteth for thy salvation [ worn out waiting for your rescue ]: but I hope in thy word – Psalms 119:81

Dearly beloved brethren, Bible days saints either in the old or new testaments, experienced some challenging times too.

Even our Master and Lord Jesus Christ was not exempted. See it yourself.

1. Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jn 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

2. Paul and his team.

2Co 4:8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
2Co 7:5 For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fighting, within were fears.

3. King David.

My soul fainteth for thy salvation [ worn out waiting for your rescue ]: but I hope in thy word – Psalms 119:81

See this same passage in other Bible versions.

NLT
Psalms 119:81 I am worn out waiting for your rescue, but I have put my hope in your word.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:81 My soul languishes and grows faint for Your salvation, but I hope in Your word.

See it amplified.

My soul fainteth for thy salvation The phrase used expresses the most intense desire possible. But I hope in thy Word .While almost fainting, the psalmist is sustained by his hope and trust in God’s promises.

Beloved, it could be perhaps, may be, you yourself presently is experiencing some challenging situations. Don’t be cast down. There is a way out.

1. Count on God’s unfailing faithfulness and patiently wait for Him.

Psalms 27:13-14 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

2. Trust Him and never ever be afraid.

Psalms 56:3-4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

3. Pray continually and praise Him wholeheartedly.

Acts 16:25-26 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Then His timely intervention shall be your portion in Jesus name.

Go and do likewise.

My soul fainteth for thy salvation [ worn out waiting for your rescue ]: but I hope in thy word – Psalms 119:81

My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: Proverbs 3:1-9

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | January 11, 2021 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | Let my heart be sound in thy statutes

Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. - Psalms 119:80
Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. - Psalms 119:80

Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

Dearly beloved brethren, the last days are here with us. Many of the prophecies of scriptures are being fulfilled before us. But then watch and be careful, that you are not overtaken by the happenings of the last days.

Some of the things the scriptures says shall be happening in the church are the following:

1. Love of many apart from you, waxing cold.

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

2. Having form of godliness but are hypocritical.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

3. Reprobate professors of religion.

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

4. First love for Christ lost.

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

5. Having a name that they live, but are spiritually dead.

Revelation 3:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

6. Total departure from the faith by vast majority of empty professors of religion.

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

Beloved there is a way out of all these. This way was the resolute decision of king David, to be wholeheartedly obedient to the statues of God at whatever cost and consequences. See it yourself.

Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

See this same passage in other Bible versions.

NLT
Psalms 119 vs 80 May I be blameless in keeping your decrees; then I will never be ashamed.

AMP BIBLE
Psalm 119:80 Let my heart be sound (sincere and wholehearted and blameless) in Your statutes, that I may not be put to shame.

When this is done by king David or you, something is assured and guaranteed. You shall not be put to shame here and hereafter.

Psalms 119:31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O LORD, put me not to shame.
Isaiah 50:7 For the Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
Psalms 34:5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

Beloved, remember and don’t ever forget the last days are here. You shall see suprises and shameful backsliding and departure from the faith.

Be determined to cleave to the Lord and be unmoved about what you are seeing and the people doing them.

Acts 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The good Lord shall help you in particular in Jesus name.

Let my heart be sound [ perfect and blameless towards your decrees ] in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed. – Psalms 119:80

Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies, statutes and laws – Psalms 119:79

Dearly beloved brethren, God has brought you to this new year. Reciprocate His kind gesture, by living to please Him, whatever you see others around you or the vast majority are doing.

One of the prophecies of our Lord Jesus Christ, that shall precede His second coming, which is seven years after the dawning rapture, is that iniquity shall abound. See it yourself.

Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

The Bible says multitude will be sinning wilfully and flagrantly, but then, you must remain your lifestyle of biblical righteousness and holiness. You in particular is counselled not to follow a multitude in doing the evil, they are doing.

Exodus 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies, statutes and laws – Psalms 119:79

Moses put this into practice when he came back from the mountain, after been with the Lord for forty days. Aaron had led the whole nation of Israel into shameful idolatry. Moses stood away from them and called others to join him.

Exo 32:25 — Exo 32:26 And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:) Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

Over and over in both the old and new testaments, the Bible says, saints should separate themselves from the sinning world. See some of the admonitions.

Isaiah 52:11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD.
Ephesians 5:11-12 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
1Co 5:9 — 1Co 5:11 I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
2Co 6:14 — 2Co 6:18 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies, statutes and laws – Psalms 119:79

This was the stance of king David at this time, he wanted to associate himself only with those who fear the Lord and were living in implicit obedience to His unfailing, unchanging and eternal words. See it yourself.

Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies, statutes and laws – Psalms 119:79

See this same passage in other Bible version.

NLT
Psalms 119:79 Let me be united with all who fear you, with those who know your laws.

Beloved this must be your unchanging resolution from now till Jesus comes. It does not matter how many people are doing wrong things, never ever join them. The good Lord shall uphold you in particular in Jesus name.

Remember always to follow what is good and not evil till Christ comes.

3 John 1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies, statutes and laws – Psalms 119:79
