Whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall – Matthew 5:31

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. – Matthew 5:31

Beloved brethren, Jesus Christ our Lord again at this time, as He taught the sermon on the mount, established the Bible doctrine, on marriage, which is monogamy and never polygamy.

Remember, Jesus earlier had taught, that, He had come to fulfil the law and not to destroyed it. See it yourself.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

The law said, God hateth putting away and Jesus Christ, would never ever contradicted His Father. See it yourself.

Malachi 2:14 Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. 2:15 And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. 2:16 For the LORD, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the LORD of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously.

It was for this reason, when the Pharisees asked Him, questions on marriage, He took them , back to the beginning. See it yourself.

Matthew 19:3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. 19:7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? 19:8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 19:9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. – Matthew 5:31

But then, what was Jesus saying about, putting her away, because of fornication.

What is fornication:. This is the dictionary meaning.

sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other .

What then is adultery according to the dictionary:

voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and someone other than thatperson’s current spouse or partner

Jesus knew, a married person can not commit fornication but adultery.

The only ground for separation happens, when you discover, the person, you want to marry, is unfaithful, before you have been joined together as couples, either in the church or court of law.

This was what happened between Joseph and Mary, and Joseph wanted to put her away, privately.

Matthew 1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Once you are joined together, it is only death of spouse, that can make anyone remarry again. See what the scriptures says.

Romans 7:2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

1 Corinthians 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. – Matthew 5:31

Jesus said, if anyone put his or her spouse away to marry another, the person is committing adultery and his or her soul shall be damned at the end of time.

Mark 10:10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

The writing of Paul that says a person is not in bondage when the spouse departs , means you are not guilty of the departure of the spouse and quickly said, if you can not abide alone, then reconcile with your spouse. . See it yourself

1 Corinthians. 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases: but God hath called us to peace.

Then he went further to give instructions to the unmarried, virgins. and widows.

1 Corinthians 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

1 Corinthians. 7:25 Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.

He went further to say, that if anyone is loosed from his or her spouse, on account of death, they can remarry, if they choose to.

1 Corinthians. 7:27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 7:28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you.

Beloved brethren, Jesus never destroyed the law. He never gave room for divorce among Bible believing believers.

This is because, a married person can not commit fornication, but the unmarried.

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. – Matthew 5:31

Beloved,brethren, this particular passage of the sermon on the mount, is of paramount importance to you as a Bible believing believer.

No doubt, you are aware that, our Lord has been in the eternity past, before His earthly ministry. See what the scriptures says about His deity.

Proverbs 8:22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. 8:23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. 8:24 When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. 8:25 Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. 8:27 When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: 8:28 When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: 8:29 When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: 8:30 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; 8:31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.

Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Beloved, because our Lord, knows the importance of the perpetuality and eternality of humanity, He gave His followers of all ages and that includes you, the wisest counsel. See it yourself.

This means as a Bible believing believer, you should not gain anything at the expense of your precious undying soul.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Avoid falling a victim of what happened to Esau.

Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. – Matthew 5:29-30

In addition, you should reckon anyone and anything, despite the profitability of such things or such a person,
secondary to your soul.

You should determinely severe your relationship from anything and anyone, who threatens your eternal well-being

Mark 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

The good Lord shall help you to attach utmost importance to this all important counsel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 32:29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. – Matthew 5:27

Beloved brethren, either as a brother or sister, not committing adultery is a commandment that you must take very very seriously.

This is because of its consequences, here and hereafter.

This commandment was included in the ten commandments, given by God to Moses. See it yourself.

Exodus 20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Our Master and Lord, re emphasized it, because of its grievous earthly and eternal consequences.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. – Matthew 5:27

Earthly consequences.

Proverbs 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul. 6:33 A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

1 Corinthians 6:15 Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. 6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. 6:18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

Eternal consequences.

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

No wonder, Jesus gave a panacea for escaping the sins of adultery and all uncleanness. See it yourself.

However, you must have full understanding of what the sin of adultery, entails, before you can claim to be free from it.

1. Looking lustfully on opposite sex is a sin of adultery, according to Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. – Matthew 5:27

2. Divorcing and remarrying when your lawful partner is alive is a sin of adultery.

Mark 10:10 And in the house his disciples asked him again of the same matter. 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.

3. The command is here laid down (Matthew 5:27), Thou shalt not commit adultery which includes a prohibition of all other acts of uncleanness, and the desire of them.

All immoral acts between opposite sex, married and unmarried, all forms of uncleanness, sodomy, whoremongers etc all of these constitute the sin of adultery.

Ephesians 5:3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

1 Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

It is because of this, that , this commandment was repeated in virtually all the new testament books. See some of them.

Acts 15:28 For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 15:29 That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Romans 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

1 Corinthians 5:1
It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.

Beloved brethren, having discovered, what constitute the sin of adultery, according to God’s eternal unchanging unfailing words .

In addition, you have also discovered from the Bible, the earthly and eternal consequences of this greivous sin and how almost all the books in the new testament, emphasized it.

Then you are under compulsion to heed this all important exhortation of our Lord Jesus Christ. See it again.

Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 5:26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. – Matthew 5:25

Beloved brethren, this is another sayings of Christ, that made Bible believing believers, like you to be very wise.

Our Lord said, whenever you applied His sayings to address any issue, you become wise.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Beloved brethren, in the economy of God, one biblical way of enjoying your Christian life, is to always agree with your adversaries. See it yourself.

What does it means to agree with your adversaries? See what the blessed Holy Spirit says.

1 Corinthians 6:7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

Don’t ever, contend with others about any issue, give them opportunity to cheat you and allow God alone to defend you.

1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 2:23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

Avoid as much as possible, offending anyone, even though, they could offend you, but then, you bear the pain ,patiently.

We bless the Lord Jesus Christ, who did Himself, what He taught us. See this yourself.

See, how our Lord, scripturally avoided , offending, others, especially, those who have government backing or law enforcement agencies.

Mat 17:24 — Mat 17:27 24 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 25 He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 26 Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Beloved brethren, learn from how our Lord Jesus Christ and Abraham, handled offences, by agreeing with their adversaries.

Beloved brethren, by the time our Lord Jesus Christ was returning back to heaven, He commanded that, His followers of all ages and that includes you, must be taught, all that He Himself taught.

Matthew 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

This was the doctrine of sanctification.

Now, as you come to our present study, it was the doctrine of restitution. See it.

Beloved brethren, remember, every sin, committed by anyone. Is done against God and humanity.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

See an instance of what Jesus said. Paul was talking and was rude to the high priest without, knowing. When his attention was drawn to it, he apologized immediately. See it.

Acts 23:1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. 23:2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth. 23:3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law? 23:4 And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest? 23:5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

Restitution means doing work meet for repentance. Meaning, correct your past mistakes against your fellow human beings.

Matthew 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

Acts 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

God requires you in particular to correct your wrong actions in the past.

This was exactly what Zacchaeus did and Jesus our Lord, during His earthly ministry, commended, him. See it.

Luke 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 19:9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

Beloved brethren, like Paul and Zacchaeus, have you done your restitutions?

If you are, praise God. If not, go and do what Jesus, commanded and be wise

Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shall not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. – Matthew 5:21

Beloved brethren, as we begin to go into the deep teachings of Christ on the mount, Bible believing believers like you, must differentiate yourself, from the vast majority of the churchgoers.

Multitude of churchgoers claimed, that we are now in the period of grace, the issue of the commandments of God in the old testament, now are no more relevant, they have passed away, they say.

But, is not surprising that Jesus Christ our Lord and His apostles, taught the law as contained in the old testament. See some of them.

Matthew 19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Mark 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

Luke 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

The apostles

James 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

1 John 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Beloved brethren, because you are a wise person, please heed the sayings of Christ our Lord.

Jesus Christ, emphasized the teachings of all the laws in the old testament, apart from ceremonial laws, which were exclusively made for the Jews.

God’s words forbids, killing and all forms of murder, including, unforgiving spirit.

Remember, Jesus commanded you, never ever to be a murderer, God shall help you in particular to be obedient unto God in Jesus name.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

Beloved brethren , you must really be wise as counseled by our Lord Jesus Christ.

You must be wiser than many churchgoers who are holding unto what the Bible refered to as broken cistern.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

This means people holding on to righteousness that can not avail with God.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Beloved brethren, while you a Bible believing believers, hold unto righteousness inputted through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross, they, ordinary churchgoers hold unto others things.

They held only to the outside, but we must make conscience of inside godliness.

They aimed at the praise and applause of men, but we must aim at acceptance with God:

They were proud of what they did in religion, and trusted to it as a righteousness but we, when we have done all, must deny ourselves, and say, We are unprofitable servants, and trust only to the righteousness of Christ and thus we may go beyond the scribes and Pharisees. See this.

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

This righteousness shall lead to eternal damnation.

But then on the contrary, the righteousness that shall lead you to the kingdom of heaven is very different.

Matthew 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

This righteousness are in two folds. One the inputted righteousness, that comes through faith in the blood of Jesus and His finished works on the cross.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

And then the imparted righteousness, which comes through grace.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

It is the righteousness that makes you hate iniquities like Christ.

Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

These are the righteousness that exceeds that of scribes and Pharisees.

Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Go and do likewise.

Dearly beloved brethren, just like God in the days gone bye, places , so much premium on hearing and doing, His precepts.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Deuteronomy 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

As a result of this, the leaders of His people, also gave premium place to doing the entirety of God’s unfailing words, before teaching others.

Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments

As a follow up to Jesus’s not destroying the law and the prophets, He also emphasized the same attitude to doing God’s word and teaching others.

And as a follow up to that, as the great teacher in Bible days, He did what, He taught.

The apostles in Bible days, also followed the example of Jesus, exhorting others, of the importance of doing the entirety of God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words.

Beloved brethren, you a Bible believing believers must distinguishes yourself from vast majority of churchgoers, who hold God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words in the old testament, with contempt.

Jesus Christ our Lord, here affirmed that He had not come to destroy the totality of God’s eternal unchanging unfailing words in the old testament, but to establish them, because all of them were revelations about Him. See this yourself.

Just like the Pharisees held on to the old testament and rejected Jesus’s ministry.

Paul apostle emphasized over and over, the unfailing unchanging eternal truths in the words of the old testament.

Beloved brethren, like Jesus Christ our Lord, His apostles and Paul, you also must believe the entirety of God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words in the old testament and never ever reject or destroy them, but believe and live by them.

Ye are the light of the world. Beloved brethren, Jesus went further to use similitude in describing His expectations from all His followers of all ages, most especially you.
Ye are the light of the world.

He said this because, before you received Him and welcomed Him, into your life, you were walking in darkness.

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

It is His light that lightens all His followers, including you.

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

For you to become a light and shine, you must realised that Jesus Christ Himself, is the light of the world

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

.Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

When you live a lifestyle in accordance to His words, you begin to shine as light in this crocked world.

Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Beloved brethren, always remember, you are a light that must shine like John the Baptist.

John 5:33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

It is time beloved brethren to bring glory to God as you shine as light in this crocked world.
