Dearly beloved brethren, as David was surprised when he was been persecuted, that those, he thought could have defended him, added to his challenges., So also is the case with faithfil believers today. You discover that, those that would have been used to help you out of the challenges are even part of your adversaries. See this of David.

Princes also did sit and speak against me [ slander and say bad things ]: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. – Psalms 119:23

Psalms 119:161 Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

But then, David never recompensed evil for evil.

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

Beloved as it happened to David, so it happened to our Lord Jesus Christ, during His passion.

1 Corinthians 2:8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

Beloved, see how this same passage was amplified.

Princes also did sit and speak against me. The great of the earth too often take part against the righteous, and join in persecuting them and calumniating them But thy servant did meditate in thy statutes; ie. I took no heed of their calumnies—they did not trouble me. I gave myself to meditation on thy commandments.

Dearly beloved, when you discover people you least expect, join in doing you evil. Do what Jesus our Lord did

1Pe 2:21 — 1Pe 2:23 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

God’s grace was available to David and our Lord Jesus Christ, it shall be available for you too in Jesus name.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
