Dearly beloved brethren, king David, through his own life and sincere desire, revealed the most humbling truth about the entire human race after the fall at Eden.

The entire unregenerate have been blinded to all things pertaining to God

2Co 4:3 — 2Co 4:4 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Rom 8:6 — Rom 8:8 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

2Ti 2:24 — 2Ti 2:26 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Open thou mine eyes [ illuminate my understanding ], that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. – Psalms 119:18

Pause a little and consider the four scriptures above. Any time you see yourself contesting any scripture, you need to pray like, king David and ask God to open your blind eyes, to behold wondrous things from God’s unfailing unchanging and eternal words?

Our Lord Jesus Christ affirmed that, it takes God the Father, to revealed the hidden truth in the scriptures to humble Bible believing believers, our Lord refered to as babes.

Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Luk 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.

This was the exact thing, God the Father, did to Peter, and he saw our Lord as the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Mat 16:13 — Mat 16:17 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Psalms 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law

But then, after our Lord’s glorification, the blessed Holy Spirit had been commissioned to reveal the truth of the scriptures to sincere and humble Bible believing believers, like you.

Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Jn 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

See the way the same passage was amplified.

Open thou mine eyes – עיני גל gal eynai, reveal my eyes, illuminate my understanding, take away the veil that is on my heart, and then shall I see wonders in thy law. The Holy Scriptures are plain enough; but the heart of man is darkened by sin. The Bible does not so much need a comment, as the soul does the light of the Holy Spirit. Were it not for the darkness of the human intellect, the things relative to salvation would be easily apprehended.

Open thou mine eyes. Since the Fall, men’s eyes are naturally blinded, or, at any rate, have a veil over them, which God must remove before they can see clearly.

Beloved, like king David, reach out to the blessed Holy Spirit to begin to reveal the hidden things of the scriptures to you and help you to avert eternal damnation of those who are still contesting the Bible.

2Th 2:10 — 2Th 2:12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
