Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | September 25, 2020 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee: Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry; For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. – Psalms 88:1-3

Dearly beloved, as the world is gradually coming to an end and the dawning of the last days are with us. There is something that must not surprise or trouble you in particular. See it.

1Pe 4:12 — 1Pe 4:13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

This is because Jesus our Lord has informed believers of all ages and you in particular, that following Him fully shall expose you to inexplanable and unavoidable challenges.

John 16:33. These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Mat 5:10 — Mat 5:12 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

The blessed Holy Spirit also affirms same in both old and new testaments, that saints, who desires to live righteously to please God, shall experience inexplanable and unavoidable challenges.

Psalms 34:19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Philippians 1:29. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

1Th 3:3. That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto..

But then, despite the difficulties this unavoidable circumstances and challenges might cost you, it must not separate you from following Christ . You must endeavor to follow Him through thick and thin to the end.

Rom 8:35 — Rom 8:39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Rev 14:4 — Rev 14:5 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

This becomes necessary for two reasons.

1. The eternal rewards awaiting you for enduring the challenges to the end. This shall surely be your portion in Jesus name.

Rom 8:16 — Rom 8:18 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

James 1:12. Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Revelation 2:10. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

2. The fearsome consequences that shall be the lots of those who turn back from Christ, because of challenges they encounter because of their faith. This shall not be your portion in Jesus name.

2Ti 2:11 — 2Ti 2:13 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

Beloved brethren, see saints of old that had such challenges and be encouraged and persevere to the end.

2 Corinthians 7:5. For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.

Dearly beloved, always remember that the way of the cross leads home and you are expected to carry your cross daily till Christ comes.

Luk 9:23 — Luk 9:26 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
