No Soldier of Christ should entangle himself only with the affairs of this life;

KnowingJESUS Daily Devotional | September 19, 2019 – Enrich and Sustain your relationship with Jesus reading our daily devotional – OUR PURSUIT AS SOLDIERS AS CHRIST.

2nd Timothy 2:4 – No Soldier of Christ should entangle himself only with the affairs of this life; that he may please Him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Beloved,  one of the great privileges that saints of old and believers in our contemporary times enjoyed from God was divine direction. It is your own  heritage too,  from God, please always take advantage of it.

Psalms 32:8. I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

This divine direction was the platform for the saints of old to discover God’s good thoughts towards them and purse it, to accomplish it. When this is done, God is glorified and His saints are fulfilled.  You too shall be fulfilled in Jesus name and God shall be glorified through your life in Jesus name.

Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Beloved, you shall find out,  that God has a unique purpose for your life. It is important for you to discover it . Then  pursue it to accomplishment.  See God is in one mind, it is when you function in the goal He has for your life, that you can claim to be successful.

Job 23:13. But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

Regrettably, like the children of Israel,  they abandoned God’s purpose for their lives, pursuing their own agenda and paid, dearly for it.

Jeremiah 2:17-19. Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, when he led thee by the way? And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river? Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts.

Beloved, your Father in heaven abhor seeing His children entangling themselves with the affairs of this world. Doing this can cost them both their fortune here and hereafter. Please avoid this satanic snare.

2 Timothy 2:4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Nehemiah was one of the saints of old that you can learn from. He focused on His. God appointed assignment and determinedly avoided entanglement. He was to rebuild the broken wall of Jerusalem. See how he avoided entanglement.

Nehemiah 4:21. So we laboured in the work: and half of them held the spears from the rising of the morning till the stars appeared.

Nehemiah 6:15. So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

See how, he determined avoided entanglement from writing ng pole.

Nehemiah 6:2-4. That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.

But then avoid what happened to prophet Isaiah. God had a special assignment for Him. He was entangled with the king Uzzaih of Judah. For God to get His full attention He had to remove the entanglement from His life and then He was able to see God and discover his inadequacies and then received the call to fulfil His God given call . See it. Please learn a great

Isaiah 6:1-9. In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

Dearly beloved, Jesus our Lord was in deed a great example in virtually everything. During his earthly ministry, He focused on His assignment till, the end, and avoided  distraction and entanglement . See it.

Luke 2:49. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

John 4:34. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

John 9:4. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

John 17:4. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

Twice our Lord declined distraction and entanglement to His assignment.
1. Somebody wanted Him to mediate in distribution of inheritance, but He declined.

Luke 12:13-14. And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?

2. His attention was drawn to what Pilate was doing and the collapse of a tower , but He redirected the discussion back to His assignment. See it.

Luke 13:1-5. There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Like Jesus, this was  what the blessed HolySpirit inspired apostle Paul, to warn believers of all ages and you in particular, to avoid entanglement with the affairs of this life, that can subtle make believers to miss the fulfilment of their assignment. See it.

2 Timothy 2:4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

You must learn from apostle Paul, who after discovering his assignment in life, never got entangled or distracted.

Romans 1:1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

Galatians 1:15-16. But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

After discovering his assignment, he did it with all his strength and prospered.

1 Corinthians 15:9-10. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

He was never diverted to the end.

1 Corinthians 2:2. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

2 Timothy 4:7-8. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

May God help you too, to discover your God given assignment and fulfil it without entangling yourself with the affairs of this life in Jesus name.
Friend, if there is any time while believers like you should be extra focused and avoid distractions and entanglement, it is now that, the rapture is dawning. Many shall misc this imminent event, because satan shall subtlety  entangled them with the affairs of this life.
You shall not be distracted in Jesus name.

2 Timothy 2:4. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

One subtle means that shall make many carefree believers miss the rapture is entangling themselves with the affairs of this life.

2 Peter 2:20: For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

See  Demas, a  great itinerary evangelist that tirelessly worked with apostle Paul, but was entangled with the affairs of this life and was drawn away from the Lord and was damned ultimately. This shall not be your portion.
Please learn from the avoidable costly mistake of this man.  See Him, before he was swayed subtly by the devil.

Colossians 4:14. Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.

Philemon 1:23-24. There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus; Marcus, Aristarchus, Demas, Lucas, my fellowlabourers.

But see how he lost out and was ultimately lost. This shall not be your portion in Jesus name.

2 Timothy 4:10. For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
