Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | December 17, 2018. Enrich and Sustain your relationship with Jesus reading our daily devotional – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. – Philippians 2:5-8
Daniel 2:28. But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
Beloved, if you desire a closer walk with your loving Father in heaven, like the saints and believers in Bible days, then humility and deliberate lowliness must characterise your lifestyle .
This is because God resist the proud with all His might, but respects and fellowship with the lowly.
Psalms 138:6. Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
Proverbs 3:34: Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.
Proverbs 15:33: The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. The king Nebuchadnezzar wanted to ascribe the wits of Daniel in knowing his dream and interpreting it to him, but Daniel quickly pointed him to the God of heaven, who must have all the glory and must not be shared with any being.
Isaiah 42:8. I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Daniel 2:28. But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
There are many other saints in both old and new testaments who did, the same thing as Daniel did. God was able to walk and work with them and He brought them to great exaltation .
BELOVED , IF YOU DESIRE GOD TO REALY USE YOU FOR HIS GLORY. NEVER EVER SHARE HIS GLORY WITH HIM. ALWAYS DIRECT PEOPLE BACK TO GOD, WHO WANTS TO ASCRIBE YOUR WITS TO YOU, OTHER WISE, SUCH A PERSON WILL FALL A VICTIM OF WHAT HAPPENED TO HEROD, THE KING.
That shall never be your portion in Jesus name.
Acts 12:21-23. And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.
SEE EXAMPLES OF SAINTS AND BELIEVERS WHO REDIRECT PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO ASCRIBE THE GREAT ABILITIES THEY MANIFESTED TO THEM, BUT THEY QUICKLY POINTED THEM TO GOD.
1. Joseph before Pharaoh .
Genesis 41:15-16. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
2. Peter and John after the notable miracle of healing the lame man.
Acts 3:8-13. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk? The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
3. Barnabas and Paul when the lame man at Lystra was healed.
Acts 14:7-18. And there they preached the gospel. And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked. And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men. And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people. Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways. Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
Beloved, learn from the experience of king Nebuchadnezzar, who was humbled by God for ascribing the greatness of Babylon to himself and avoid the pain.
Daniel 4:34-37. And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
Dearly beloved, is not a fact that the disciple must be like His master? If it be so and that you are truly a believer and disciple of Christ, then His unique nature must characterise your lifestyle.
See how the scriptures describe our Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 11:28-29. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Philippians 2:5-8. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Jesus taught His disciples to be poor in the spirit and not be proud in the spirit.
Matthew 5:3: Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. He also severally taught them to humble themselves, if they desired to be exalted by God.
Matthew 23:12: And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Luke 14:11: For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Luke 18:14. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
James 4:6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
1 Peter 5:5-6. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Both now and at eternity, deliberate lowliness and humility shall earn you great blessing, if you will cultivate and sustain it. Receive grace to do it in Jesus name.
2 Corinthians 9:8. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
JESUS’S GRACIOUS EXHORTATION TO THE BELIEVERS OF ALL AGES AND YOU IN PARTICULAR, ON EARTHLY AND ETERNAL BLESSINGS OF HUMILITY.
Friend, why on earth shall the worldlings and the care free believers miss the dawning rapture? Because they followed after the undoing of lucifer the son of the morning , who was driven out of heaven and destined for hell on the account of pride.
Isaiah 14:12-15. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
Matthew 25:41. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Pride brings anyone and everyone to destruction and debasement. Such a people shall not be part of this great event. You shall be part in Jesus name, so be humble, like Jesus.
Proverbs 16:18: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 18:12: Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
Proverbs 29:23: A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
Those that shall live with God in heaven for all eternity and be part of the rapture, like you , are the believers that have contrite and humble spirit. See it.
Isaiah 57:15. For thus saith the high and lofty One. that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Because, this is so make a determined, deliberate effort to humble yourself continually before God, till Christ comes. It shall be well with you in Jesus name.
James 4:10: Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
