Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | February 16, 2022 | KEEP YOUR BODY UNDER SUBJECTION
Genesis 34:30 And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me to make me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and I being few in number, they shall gather themselves together against me, and slay me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house. 34:31 And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with an harlot?
Dearly beloved brethren, it is very very important for you to be in control of your body and don’t allow your body to make you sin against God.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
One shameful attitude that biblical salvation helps you to overcome is anger.
The ungodly action of Simeon and Levi were the result of uncontrollable anger.
Jacob while dying cursed both of them, because of this shameful act.
Genesis 49:5 Simeon and Levi are brethren; instruments of cruelty are in their habitations. 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall. 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
KEEP YOUR BODY UNDER SUBJECTION || But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Both in the old and new testaments, you are admonished to determinedly avoid being angry.
Ecclesiastes 7:9
Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.
Matthew 5:22
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Ephesians 4:26
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Colossians 3:8
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
KEEP YOUR BODY UNDER SUBJECTION || But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
You are even compelled not to make friendship with an angry person.
Proverbs 22:24
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
The reason why you are brought into the kingdom, is because, God was gracious and not angry with you.
Psalms 78:38
But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
Psalms 103:8
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
Psalms 103:9
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
Psalms 145:8
The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
Beloved brethren, because God is gracious to you, it is expedient that you too must be gracious to anyone that offends you.
Receive grace to do so henceforth till Jesus comes and always avoid the despicable attitude of Simeon and Levi.
KEEP YOUR BODY UNDER SUBJECTION || But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
