Recompense to no man evil for evil.
Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
As Bible believing believers, more often than none, others will persecute us because of our faith and uncompromising stance.
Even though these persecutions might be very very painful. You are restrained by God, to pay back your persecutors with the same coin.
You must not reterliate, be malicious against them, you must not recompense evil for evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
1 Peter 3:9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
You must continue to do good to your persecutors as Jesus our Lord prayed for those that mistreated Him, as Joseph pardoned his wicked brothers and as Stephen prayed for those who stoned him to death.
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Example of Joseph is his cruel brothers.
Genesis 50:15 And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him. 50:16 And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying, 50:17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. 50:18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. 50:19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? 50:20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. 50:21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
Example of Stephen to those who stoned him to death.
Acts 7:58 And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, whose name was Saul. 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Always remember, no matter what anyone might have done against you, you must not retaliate or recompense evil for evil.
Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
Let us pray.
