Treasures in heaven.

Treasures in heaven.

Matthew  6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

The greatest thing you can do for yourself in this world, to profit you for all eternity is to lay treasures for yourself in heaven.

This you do by investing your resources in everything that will advance the kingdom of Christ on earth.

Every time there is an opportunity to invest in things that will sincerely turn others to righteousness,  don’t be slack. Give bountifully, because the eternal rewards are worthwhile.

2 Corinthians  9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.  9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Our Lord said when you give to advance His kingdom, here on earth and at eternity, you will be commensurately rewarded.

Luke  6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Mark  10:28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.  10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,  10:30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Each time you give for the course of God and His people, it is recorded in heaven.

Proverbs  11:24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.  11:25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

Malachi  3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.

Hebrews  6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

In addition when you sincerely support the needy inside or outside the church, you have rewards waiting for you in heaven.

Psalms  112:9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.

2 Corinthians  9:9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

Galatians  6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

His grace will be sufficient for you to continue to lay treasures for yourself in heaven.

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

So commit yourself fully to doing it  and here  and hereafter you shall be greatly rewarded.

Let us pray.
