The earthly and eternal gains of walking in the Spirit.

The earthly and eternal gains of walking in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians  2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Romans  8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Galatians  5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Bible believing believers are severally exhorted in the Bible, to walk in the Spirit.

The reason for this, is to help them avoid the collosal earthly and eternal losses associated with walking in the flesh and worthwhile earthly and eternal gains derivable from walking in the Spirit.

But then what exactly are the evidence of the flesh in the life of those inside and outside the church.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,  5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,  5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

2 Peter  2:18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.

1 John  2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

How can you overcome the flesh?

You must be biblically saved.

2 Corinthians  5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

In addition, you must be biblically sanctified and be crucified to the flesh.

2 Corinthians  7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Galatians  2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

After which you make lifetime resolve not to have confidence in the flesh.

Philippians  3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

You then continue doing God’s will in all areas of your life, like Jesus.

1 Peter  4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;  4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

God’s grace will be sufficient for you in Jesus name. Amen.

2 Corinthians  9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Let us pray.
