Afflictions and prayers.

James  5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

It is a sad commentary today, for many so called believers, whenever there is little health challenges, they resort to medication.

There is nothing in them, that even want to make effort to pray according to this Jesus’s word 

Mark  16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

God’s words in the book of James says, if you are afflicted, pray. If others around you are afflicted pray for them.

When will you start doing this?  

The reason why this becomes difficult for you is because you are not a praying believer and you don’t spend time studying the Bible.

Many years ago, a lady in my office had a challenge and went to a particular church for help.

Very very unfortunately, the pastor of the church, she went was fetish and wanted to use her. 

She discovered after meeting that pastor, it was like,, she wanted to run mad, so she stopped going to the church again.

In my office they knew I was a Christian and attending Deeper life Bible Church. 

This lady came to me and pleaded with me to take her to my church to see pastor Kumuyi. 

But then I told her not to worry that I will pray for her and I did. 

Then God healed her,  she was eternally grateful to God and me that prayed for her. 

At another time we came to Gbagada for special service and I saw one of my students. 

He said, He has stopped schooling, because he could not see clearly again.

There and then I prayed for him.  When I finished praying, I saw something literally came out of his eyes and was coming to mine.

I said it can never happen. 

This young man has finished university now , gotten married and is even a pastor in deeper life.

God wants us to be blessing to everyone around us and so He gave us the promises 

Mark  16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

John  14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

But then two things will make this happen. 

Acts  6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

1 Samuel  12:23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way:

Regular praying and studying the word of God.

If you too will commit yourself to praying and studying the word of God regularly, you will begin to experience the fulfillment of these promises in Jesus name.

But then firstly you must be biblically saved and sanctified.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the same person that will save and sanctify you.

Matthew  1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

After which you give yourself regularly to praying and studying the word of God.

Remember the word of Jesus.

Mark  9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

This morning God will heal you and me use even you to minister healing and deliverance to others around you in Jesus name.
