Whom are you following?
You must avoid idolatry by following man, or your pastor, instead of Jesus.
1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
Whose word have final authority over your life?
Is it God’s word in the Bible or your pastor’s word?
You must examine yourself.
2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
You must not love anyone more than God.
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
You must be like the Berean Christian.
Acts 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Remember Jesus died for you, not your pastor.
1 Corinthians 1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. 1:13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
Endeavor to follow Jesus and not your pastor.
