Pray and don’t faint.

by Bishop Peter Babalolain Devotional

Luke  18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Everyone on earth, believers and unbelievers alike will have troublous period.

1 Peter  5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:  5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

So the blessed Holy Spirit says you should not faint., no matter the severity of the challenges because there is a way out.

Proverbs  24:10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

1 Corinthians  10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

What you need to do is to pray without ceasing.  Meaning praying till you receive your miracle.

Listen to examples of those who pray until they received.

Elijah

1 Kings  18:1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, shew thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.  18:41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.  18:42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,  18:43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.  18:44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.  18:45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew  26:38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.  26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  26:40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?  26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.  26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.  26:43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.  26:44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.  26:45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

The widow in the city.

Luke  18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:  18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.  18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;  18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.  18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.  18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

The church in Jerusalem

Acts  12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.  12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.  12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)  12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.  12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.  12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.  12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.  12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.  12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.  12:10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.  12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.  12:12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

The blessed Holy Spirit exhorts you to pray without ceasing.

Meaning pray until you receive.

1 Thessalonians  5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Matthew  7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:  7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.  7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?  7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?  7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

But then remember sin hinders answer to prayers.

Psalms  66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Isaiah  59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:  59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

John  9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Proverbs  28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

2 Chronicles  7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

So don’t faint pray and your breakthrough is guaranteed.

Luke  18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.

Let us pray.
