Oneness of the church in answer to Christ’s prayer.

oneness.of the church in answer to Christ’s prayer.

Acts  2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,  2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

After the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, Bible days churches of Jerusalem and the gentiles, pursued oneness and benefitted greatly through it.

This began in Jerusalem and spread to the gentle churches.

Our Lord prayed earnestly for His church of all ages to be one, as He and the Father and the blessed Holy Spirit are one

1 John  5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Listen to His prayer.

John  17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.  17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.  17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  17:23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

This oneness was achieved and sustained by both the Jerusalem and the gentiles churches.

Acts  1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.  1:13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.  1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Acts  2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts  2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,  2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Acts  4:24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:  4:31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.  4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

Acts  5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.

Churches outside Jerusalem.

Acts  8:5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.  8:6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.  8:7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.  8:8 And there was great joy in that city.

Acts  15:23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:  15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:  15:25 It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,  15:26 Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  15:27 We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

Romans  15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:  15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians  2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,  2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

Even before our Lord came, oneness was the desire of God for His people.

Zephaniah  3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

You must endeavor to be in the faith. Meaning in spite of differences in our denominations,  we must believe the same totality of the scriptures and live by them for our eternal wellbeing to be guaranteed.

Matthew  4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Revelation  22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Let us pray.
