Jesus’s desire to know the proof of your love for Him.

Jesus’s desire to know  the proof of your love for Him.

John  21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.  21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.  21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Peter denied Jesus three times, even though, he was informed about it by our Lord, before it happened.

Luke  22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:  22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.  22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.  22:34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

When it happened, he wept and repented.

Luke  22:54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest’s house. And Peter followed afar off.  22:55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.  22:56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.  22:57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.  22:58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.  22:59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.  22:60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew.  22:61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.  22:62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.

And he was pardoned.

Mark  16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.  16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.  16:3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?  16:4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.  16:5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.  16:6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.  16:7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

Again, he made six disciples of Christ with himself to backslide when, they went a fishing and our Lord, came to succour them in their failure.

John  21:1 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.  21:2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.  21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.  21:4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.  21:5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.  21:6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.  21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

Our Lord fed the seven disciples and reached out to Peter, to reacertain his love for Him.

In the same way, Jesus will do same to you, if He discovered you are waxing cold on your love for Him.

Revelation  2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;  2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:  2:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.  2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.  2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

If you really love Christ you will be obedient to Him, promptly.

John  14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.  14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.  14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

1 John  5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

When you love Him, you obey Him promptly, not at your own convenience.

Psalms  119:60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

He rewards those who loves Him, here and hereafter.

Proverbs  8:17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.  8:21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

1 Corinthians  2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1 Peter  1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Check up throughly, do you really love Him?

2 Corinthians  13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Receive grace to do so till He comes.

2 Corinthians  9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Revelation  14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.  14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

Let us pray.
