Costly consequences of unbelief.

Costly consequences of unbelief.

John  20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.  20:25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the LORD. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

It was very very unfortunate that apostle Thomas, having witnessed great things Jesus did, before He went to the cross, fell into the sins of unbelief.

The Lord informed His disciples of His death and resurrection.

He told them o ever and over that,  He would be crucified but the third day, He would rise up.

Matthew  16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Now, He had risen according to His words, but Philip’s absence when He visited them, made him to disbelief the other apostles claim to have seen the Lord.

Like Philip many others fell into this gruesome sin of unbelief.

Matthew  13:54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?  13:55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?  13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?  13:57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.  13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Matthew  17:15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.  17:16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.  17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.  17:18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.  17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?  17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

Mark  6:2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?  6:3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.  6:4 But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.  6:5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.  6:6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Hebrews  3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,  3:8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:  3:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.  3:10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.  3:11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)  3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.  3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.  3:14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;  3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.  3:16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.  3:17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?  3:18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?  3:19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

Psalms  95:8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:  95:9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.  95:10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:  95:11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

Psalms  106:21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;  106:22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.  106:23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.  106:24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:

But our Lord taught you to believe and all things shall be possible for you.

Mark  9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

The scriptures admonished you severally to avoid the sins of unbelief.

Hebrews  4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.  4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.  4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

In addition the blessed Holy Spirit admonished you  to manifest faith and be blessed.

Hebrews  11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans  4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.  4:18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.  4:19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:  4:20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;  4:21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Hebrews  6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.  6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,  6:14 Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.  6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

Hebrews  10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.  10:38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.  10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

The good Lord will help you to believe the Lord and be blessed in Jesus name.

Mark  9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

John  11:40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

John  14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Let us pray.
