Jesus’s greatest revelation about the Comforter.

Jesus’s greatest revelation about the Comforter .

John  14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jesus Christ our Lord, the word of God and the truth personified, made starling truth about the Comforter.

John  1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

1 John  5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Revelation  19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.  19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.  19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

He is the truth personified.

John  14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

His words are eternal, they shall not pass away.

Matthew  24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Our Lord Jesus Christ said the world can not receive the Comforter. Listen.

Only Bible believing believers can receive the Comforter. The churchgoers receive something, but not the Comforter, called the Spirit of truth.

What does the Bible says about the Comforter?

1. He is the Spirit of truth.

John  16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

1 John  4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

2. He is the Comforter.

John  15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

John  14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

What made churchgoers, not to be able to receive the Comforter called the Spirit of truth?

1. They operated in the natural realm.

1 Corinthians  2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

2. They despise and lack biblical sanctification or holiness lifestyle and the Comforter is the Spirit of holiness.

Romans  1:4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

3. They are carnal.

Romans  8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.  8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.  8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Our Lord Jesus Christ differentiate the world and the church.

John  17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

The Spirit of God said you should not be conformed to this world.

Romans  12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This because the world is evil.

Galatians  1:4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

In addition the world is the enemy of God. Either inside the church or outside of the church, they  are enemies of God.

James  4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

This is because the focus of the world is carnality.

1 John  2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Very very unfortunately, instead of the church to influence the world to spirituality, the world is influencing them to worldliness and they are departing from the faith, meaning, departing from obeying the word of God.

2 Timothy  4:10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

This is the reason why, it will be absolutely impossible for the world to receive the Comforter.

Even though, they receive a spirit. Listen to the spirit the world receive.

1. Unclean spirits

Matthew  10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

2. Evil spirits.

Luke  8:2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

3.  spirit of divination

Acts  16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

4. seducing spirits,

1 Timothy  4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

5. spirits of devils.

Revelation  16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

6. foul spirit,

Revelation  18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

7. lying spirit

1 Kings  22:22 And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.  22:23 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee.

To receive the Comforter, called the Spirit of truth, you must be biblically saved and sanctified.

Ezekiel  36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.  36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.  36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

The first recipients of the Comforter called the Spirit of truth were biblically saved and sanctified.

John  17:6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.  17:7 Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.  17:8 For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.  17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.  17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Examine yourself, did you receive the Comforter called the Spirit of truth or another spirit?

Remember according to Jesus Christ our Lord, the world can not receive the Comforter called the Spirit of truth.

Let us pray.
