Jesus the gracious intercessor.

Jesus the gracious intercessor.

John  14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Beloved Brethren there is something that distinguished our Master and Lord Jesus Christ, it was His lifestyle of intercessory prayers.

Listen.

Mark  1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

Mark  6:46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.

Luke  6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Luke  22:39 And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.  22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.  22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,  22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.  22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  22:44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

John  6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Isaiah  53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Hebrews  5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

But then Jesus Christ our Lord spent quality time, praying for others.

Presently, He engages in intercessions for His faithful followers.

Romans  8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews  7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

1 John  2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

Listen to Him praying for others.

John  14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

John  16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

John  17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.  17:10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.  17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.  17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

Luke  22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:  22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Luke  23:33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.  23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Remember this. He left example for you also to be a gracious intercessor.

So begin to replicate the lifestyle of a gracious intercessor after the order of Christ.

1 Peter  2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

In deed our Lord was a great intercessor.

John  14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Let us pray.
