Asking in the name of Jesus Christ.

Asking in the name of Jesus.

John  14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

One great gift that Bible believing believers are given, is the exalted glorious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians  2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;  2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This exalted name is exclusively preserved for all Bible believing believers.

Mark  16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Even before the cross, Jesus’s exalted name is efficacious.

Luke  10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.

Our Lord severally affirms that whatever Bible believing believers will ask through His name shall be granted.

John  14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  14:14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John  15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John  16:23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.  16:24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.  16:26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

Listen to instances of how that glorious exalted name is productive and effective.

Acts  3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.  3:2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;  3:3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.  3:4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.  3:5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.  3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.  3:7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.  3:8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

Acts  9:32 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda.  9:33 And there he found a certain man named Aeneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy.  9:34 And Peter said unto him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately.

Acts  16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:  16:17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.  16:18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

But then for this name to be use able to Bible believing believers, they must have faith in the exalted glorious name.

Acts  3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

In addition the Bible enjoins believing believers to do all things through the glorious exalted name of Jesus.

Colossians  3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Always remember the following in addition.

1. You are saved through His name.

Acts  4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

2.  You get all things freely from God through Christ.

Romans  8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

3. You have access to God through Jesus Christ.

Ephesians  2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

Ephesians  3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

4. All your needs are supplied through Him.

Philippians  4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

5. Your praises are acceptable to God through Christ.

Hebrews  13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

In deed the name of Jesus and His person are great blessings to Bible believing believers of all ages and even you, so take absolute advantage of them.

Let us pray.
