Eternity is near.

Eternity is near.

Most people on earth inside and outside of the church are living their lives as if, this is where they are going to be forever and ever.

Psalms  49:10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.  49:11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.  49:12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

Luke  12:16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:  12:17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  12:18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  12:19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  12:20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

They are not thoughtful of the fact, that one day, we are going to leave here and go to a place where we are going to be forever and ever.

There are two places all of us in the earth are heading too and everyday of our lives, we are getting closer and closer to it.

Matthew  25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Daniel  12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Luke  16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.  16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.  16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

You are presently going on a particular road that leads to somewhere.

Matthew  7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Luke  13:23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,  13:24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

For you not to regret at the end of time, you must be very wise by thinking always, where you are having to spend eternity.

Deuteronomy  32:29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!

Proverbs  15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Proverbs  19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

Matthew  7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:  7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.  7:26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:  7:27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Listen to a man that was not thoughtful of his eternal well-being.

Luke  16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:  16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,  16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.  16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;  16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

What are you going to do to avoid this?

Psalms  90:9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told.  90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.  90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Pause and examine yourself this evening. Where are you going to spend eternity, if you are called home tonight?

2 Corinthians  13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Is your name in the book of life?

Revelation  20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Exodus  32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Revelation  3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Let us pray.
