Blessings of poor in the Spirit.

John  9:39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.  9:40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?  9:41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Beloved Brethren you are going to discover the problem of the Jews was that, they were haughty and proud.

Such people will not be able to relate with God or receive anything from Him.

Psalms  138:6 Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Isaiah  57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

The Jews are always contending with Jesus every time, He talks.

Listen to it again.

Jesus Christ came for the poor in the Spirit.

Matthew  5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew  11:5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Luke  4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Isaiah  66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

God always resist the proud.

James  4:6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.  4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

1 Peter  5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.  5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Only the humble shall be exalted.

Luke  14:11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Luke  18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:  18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.  18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.  18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.  18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.  18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Only the humble shall not honoured.

Proverbs 15:33
The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Proverbs 18:12
Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

Beloved Brethren let us avoid the undoing of the Jews. Let us not be haughty.

Let us be meek and lowly like Christ.

Matthew  11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Let us pray.
