The urgency of reaching the lost before death. ( click here for more details. )

Daily devotional study 30. John’s gospel. The urgency of reaching out to the lost, before the end of time.

John  4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.  4:36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.  4:37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.  4:38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

Beloved brethren, again we are learning a great lesson from Christ.

God had offered humanity His best.

1. He does not want them to perish.

2 Peter  3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

2. He wanted them to be saved.

1 Timothy  2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;  2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

John  3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

3. He loved them and paid the price of their redemption freely through Christ.

Romans  5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

Romans  5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans  8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

4. God the Father and Jesus Christ our Lord then commissioned His childrenn to be occupied in preaching the gospel for the lost to be saved.

Psalms  68:11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Luke  19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

5. He even admonished His faithful children that, if the gospel is not preached, the people will perish.

Romans  10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?  10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good thing;

6. In addition, God warned His faithful children that, He would even demand the blood of the sinners they refused to preach to, who perish from their hands.

Ezekiel  3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.  3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  3:19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.  3:20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.  3:21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

7. Our Lord Jesus Christ urged the Bible believing believers to pray for God to send labourers to His vineyards.

Matthew  9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.  9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;  9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Luke  10:1 After these things the LORD appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.  10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.  10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.

8. The blessed Holy Spirit Himself enjoined Bible believing believers to pray for the conversion of these sinners.

Romans  10:1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.  10:2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.  10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.  10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

9. In addition the blessed Holy Spirit enjoined the Bible believing believers to save the sinners from going to hell and help restore backsliders.

Jude  1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:  1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

James  5:19 Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;  5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

10. The Bible reveals both in the old and new testaments, saints that were swift in their actions to save sinners.

Rahab was urgent and saved herself and households.

Joshua  2:9 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.  2:10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.  2:11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.  2:12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:  2:13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.  2:14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

The Samaritan woman began to publish Christ and brought multitude to Christ after her conversion.

John  4:28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,  4:29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?  4:30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.

Paul apostle did same all through his life time ministry.

1 Corinthians  9:16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!  9:17 For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.  9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.  9:19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.  9:20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;  9:21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.  9:22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.  9:23 And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
11. Also in both the old and new testaments, the Bible reveals the lepers in Samaria and Moses who consecrated  themselves for others to be saved.

The lepers in Samaria

2 Kings  7:3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?  7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.  7:5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, there was no man there.  7:6 For the LORD had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.  7:7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.  7:8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.  7:9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.  7:10 So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they were.  7:11 And he called the porters; and they told it to the king’s house within.

Moses the man of God did same.

Hebrews  11:24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;  11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;  11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.  11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Even you is mandated to consecrate yourself to ensure sinners in your world of influence are saved.

1 Chronicles  29:5 The gold for things of gold, and the silver for things of silver, and for all manner of work to be made by the hands of artificers. And who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD?

Acts  5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

Acts  6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

The blessed Holy Spirit admonished even you to begin to do same.

May the good Lord, depend on you in particular in Jesus name.

Luke  10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Matthew  7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.  7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.  7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Beloved brethren, Jesus Christ our Lord is enjoining you in particular to give priority to the salvation of sinners in your world of influence, before their precious undying soul perished in hell.
