Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | August 13, 2020 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. – Psalms 40:1-3
Dearly beloved, because you are a bonafide child of the living God, then you should have a true resemblance of your most loving Father in heaven.
There is one unique attribute of God, that all His children that shall live with Him for all eternity, must have. See it He is the God of patience.
Romans 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Beloved your loving Father in heaven has invincible power. Have you ever ponder on what made Him to create the world in six days? It is to teach His loving children like you, the gracious virtue of patience and long-suffering.
Exodus 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
So always remember, never ever forget, all His promises for you have appointed time of fulfilment.
Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:though it tarry, wait for it;because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
It is true that without faith you can not please God.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me out of an horrible pit and set my feet upon a rock – Psalms 40:1-3
But then you need more than faith at all times, to get something from your loving Father in heaven. You need patience in addition to faith.
Heb 6:12 — Heb 6:15 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Heb 10:35 — Heb 10:39 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
This gracious virtue was the making of King David, all through His lifetime. This was one of the major reason, he got the best from God. See it yourself.
Psa 40:1 — Psa 40:3. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psa 27:13 — Psa 27:14 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD:be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalms 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
You might have read that God gave Job twice of what he had after his travails.
Job 42:10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me out of an horrible pit and set my feet upon a rock – Psalms 40:1-3
The one major virtue that paved way for his recovery and restoration was biblical patience.
Jam 5:7 — Jam 5:11 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door. Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
It is because of this, that the Bible provided innumerable exhortation on patience for saints of all ages and you in particular, to be patient.
1. Patience in running the Christian race.
Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2. Your lifestyle must be characterised with the fruit of patience.
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
3. Possess your precious undying soul.
Luke 21:19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
4. The reason why you have some challenges permitted by God, is to build you up to be patient like Him.
Rom 5:3 — Rom 5:4 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Jam 1:3 — Jam 1:4 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Revelation 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Beloved the good promises of God shall be fulfilled in your life according to His appointed time. So patiently wait for God, like Jes
Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me out of an horrible pit and set my feet upon a rock – Psalms 40:1-3
