Dearly beloved brethren, this is the Crux of the matter. This is the biblical difference between a Bible believing believer and a nominal churchgoer, professing religion.

It is imperative that you must live a lifestyle that has biblical right attitude to sin. All Bible believing believers, must as a matter of utmost importance and compulsion, contend for the truth.

Jud 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

During the earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ, when He saw the Jews defiling the temple and sinning therein, He contended with them.

Jn 2:13 — Jn 2:17 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

When Phinehas the son of Aaron saw one of the children of Israel brought a Midianitish woman to the camp of Israel to defile it. He killed both of them and stopped the anger of God and earned a generational promise and blessing from God. See it yourself

Num 25:6 — Num 25:8 And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.

Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

Nehemiah contended with the Jews , when they were walking contrary to the laws of God.

Neh 13:11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.

Neh 13:17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?

Neh 13:25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.

The Bible says compromisers support sin, but the upright contend with sinners.

Proverbs 28:4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Anyone and everyone supporting sin shall be damned, just like the sinners themselves.

Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Beloved do you support , keep mute when others who profess religion are walking contrary to God’s unfailing, eternal, unchanging words? Or do you mourn according to the scriptures and contend with them ?

Matthew 5:4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Ezra the priest mourned when he saw the Jews walking contrary to God’s holy words.

Ezra 9:6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

This was the same attitude of king David to those who were walking contrary to God’s unfailing unchanging and eternal words. See it yourself.

You also must do what our Lord Jesus Christ did during His earthly ministry. You must contend against sin, like Phinehas, Nehemiah, Ezra and king David.

May the good Lord depend on you to contend against what made our Lord, the Son of the living God, to be nailed to the cross.
