Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | October 22, 2020 | LESSONS FROM PSALMS | For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD. – Psalms 117:2

Dearly beloved brethren, because it is the desire of the Lord, that you in particular should spend eternity with Him, then be prepared to be receptive to the truth.

This is because Jesus Christ, our Lord is the truth personified.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The Bible referred to our Father in heaven as the God of truth and those who worship Him, must do so in truth.

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

In the same token, the blessed Holy Spirit, also is refered to as the Spirit of truth.

Jn 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

In addition, God’s word, also is referred to as the word of truth.

Ecc 12:10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

At other times, the word of God is referred to as the law of truth.

Mal 2:6 The law of truth was in his mouth,and iniquity was not found in his lips:he walked with me in peace and equity,and did turn many away from iniquity.

Very importantly this truth came to the believers and you in particular, through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jn 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jn 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Eph 4:21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

This truth is potent enough to sanctify believers and also make them free.

John 17:19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

John 8:32 A nd ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

The greatest of them all , is that this truth endureth forever.

Beloved, suprisingly, the Bible shows the negative attitude of those who profess religion to the truth,

This attitude attracts fearsome consequences. See some of the things done with the truth.

1. Truth is fallen in the church of Christ globally. It is no more received wholeheartedly.

Isaiah 59:14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

Jeremiah 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

2Ti 4:1 — 2Ti 4:4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

2. Truth is held in unrighteousness while living ungodly lifestyle.

Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

3. Truth is no more obeyed.

Rom 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein

4. Multitude of those who profess religion have been coming to churches of Christ, globally, but the truth has no impact in their lives.

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

5 Those who are guilty of all these shall be damned. This shall not be your portion in Jesus name.

2Th 2:10 — 2Th 2:12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Beloved to help you avoid this, see what you in particular should be doing with the truth, till Christ comes.

1. Be receptive to the teachings of the truth.

Psalms 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

2. Be determined to walk in the way of the truth and be obedient, till Christ comes.

Psa 119:30 I have chosen the way of truth:thy judgments have I laid before me.

The good Lord shall help you in particular in Jesus name.
