Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | June 12, 2020 | LESSONS FROM LEADERS IN THE BIBLE – EZRA | RESTORER OF JERUSALEM AS JESUS CHRIST IS RESTORER OF LIFE ETERNAL LOST IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN | Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The Lord God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem. – Ezra 1:1-3

Beloved, a disaster and catastrophe happened at Eden, the garden of affluence, more than six thousand years ago, that plunged the whole human race to indescribable degradation.

Adam and Eve our great grand parents, gave in to the deception of satan and they lost the image of God and the dominion, He gave them at the outset.

Gen 1:26 — Gen 1:27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

However, God in His infinite mercies, because of the agape love He has for humanity, the crown of His creation, arranged a redemptive program through which all that were lost would be completely recovered and restored.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Our Lord over and over in the scriptures, affirmed that the entire books of the Bible were written to testify of Him.

John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

EZRA | RESTORER OF THE RUINS OF JERUSALEM AND JUDAH AS JESUS CHRIST IS RESTORER OF LIFE ETERNAL LOST IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN – Ezra 1:1-3

The book of Ezra one of the books in the Bible symbolised this gracious redemptive work , our Lord would latter do at Calvary.

The book revealed our Lord Jesus Christ, as the restorer of life eternal, lost at Eden.

It was during the time of Ezra the God fearing scribe, that God restored back to the Jews, all the devastation king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon did.

In addition, dignity and dominion were restored to Judah and the plundered house of the Lord was rebuilt. Holy awe and righteousness were also restored back to the Jews. See it yourself.

Eza 1:7 — Eza 1:8 Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods; Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.

Ezra 1:11 All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

Eza 10:1 — Eza 10:4 Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore. And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing. Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law. Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

In the same token,our Lord Jesus Christ, through His redemptive work had undone all the consequences of Adam’s transgressions and restored dominion back to believers, who wholeheartedly embraced His substitutionary vicarious sacrifice.

Rom 5:18 — Rom 5:21 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Beloved, have you embraced the redemptive work of Christ, wholeheartedly? It is only by doing so that your dominion on earth and eternity with God can be secured.

May be Lord help you in particular to be wise unto salvation in Jesus name.
