Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 30, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes

Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:20
Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:20

Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

Beloved brethren , you must really be wise as counseled by our Lord Jesus Christ.

You must be wiser than many churchgoers who are holding unto what the Bible refered to as broken cistern.

Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

This means people holding on to righteousness that can not avail with God.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Beloved brethren, while you a Bible believing believers, hold unto righteousness inputted through faith in the finished work of Christ on the cross, they, ordinary churchgoers hold unto others things.

They held only to the outside, but we must make conscience of inside godliness.

They aimed at the praise and applause of men, but we must aim at acceptance with God:

They were proud of what they did in religion, and trusted to it as a righteousness but we, when we have done all, must deny ourselves, and say, We are unprofitable servants, and trust only to the righteousness of Christ and thus we may go beyond the scribes and Pharisees. See this.

Luke 18:9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 18:10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. 18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

This righteousness shall lead to eternal damnation.

But then on the contrary, the righteousness that shall lead you to the kingdom of heaven is very different.

Matthew 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

This righteousness are in two folds. One the inputted righteousness, that comes through faith in the blood of Jesus and His finished works on the cross.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 3:24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 3:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

And then the imparted righteousness, which comes through grace.

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

It is the righteousness that makes you hate iniquities like Christ.

Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

These are the righteousness that exceeds that of scribes and Pharisees.

Matthew 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Go and do likewise.

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:20

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 29, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least - Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least - Matthew 5:19

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least – Matthew 5:19

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:19

Dearly beloved brethren, just like God in the days gone bye, places , so much premium on hearing and doing, His precepts.

Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Deuteronomy 27:26 Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

As a result of this, the leaders of His people, also gave premium place to doing the entirety of God’s unfailing words, before teaching others.

Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments

As a follow up to Jesus’s not destroying the law and the prophets, He also emphasized the same attitude to doing God’s word and teaching others.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:19

And as a follow up to that, as the great teacher in Bible days, He did what, He taught.

Acts 1:1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

John 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

But then in addition, exhorted His followers of all ages, which includes you in particular, never ever to be like the Pharisees who taught, bit never did.

Matthew 23:1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, 23:2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: 23:3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Luke 11:42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.aàà

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:19

The apostles in Bible days, also followed the example of Jesus, exhorting others, of the importance of doing the entirety of God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

Beloved brethren, because of your desire to live eternally with God and be rewarded, then, commit yourself to doing all that Jesus said and be wise.

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 7:25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Go and do likewise and be blessed.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:19

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 28, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Think not that I am come to destroy the law

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say - Matthew 5:17
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say - Matthew 5:17

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say – Matthew 5:17

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. – Matthew 5:17

Beloved brethren, you a Bible believing believers must distinguishes yourself from vast majority of churchgoers, who hold God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words in the old testament, with contempt.

As you consider what Jesus said on this vital issue , during the sermon on the mount. See it yourself

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. – Matthew 5:17

Jesus Christ our Lord, here affirmed that He had not come to destroy the totality of God’s eternal unchanging unfailing words in the old testament, but to establish them, because all of them were revelations about Him. See this yourself.

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

So over and over, He made reverence to them in His teachings and preachings. See some of them.

Mat 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 22:38 This is the first and great commandment. 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 11:12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. – Matthew 5:17

Even His disciples affirmed same, as Jesus did. See this.

Jn 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Just like the Pharisees held on to the old testament and rejected Jesus’s ministry.

Acts 13:15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

Paul apostle emphasized over and over, the unfailing unchanging eternal truths in the words of the old testament.

Acts 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Acts 28:23 And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Romans 3:21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. – Matthew 5:17

In fact, he said the singular reason, why he was fiercely persecuted, was because of his addictions to God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words in the old testament
See this

Act 26:20 — Act 26:23 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. 21 For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me. 22 Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: 23 That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Beloved brethren, like Jesus Christ our Lord, His apostles and Paul, you also must believe the entirety of God’s unfailing unchanging eternal words in the old testament and never ever reject or destroy them, but believe and live by them.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

God’s grace shall avail for you in particular in Jesus name.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. – Matthew 5:17

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 5:15 Neither do men light a candle under a bushel - Matthew 5:14

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 5:15 Neither do men light a candle under a bushel – Matthew 5:14

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 5:14

Beloved brethren, Jesus went further to use similitude in describing His expectations from all His followers of all ages, most especially you.
Ye are the light of the world.

He said this because, before you received Him and welcomed Him, into your life, you were walking in darkness.

Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

It is His light that lightens all His followers, including you.

John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

For you to become a light and shine, you must realised that Jesus Christ Himself, is the light of the world

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 9:5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

John 12:35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Beloved brethren, you become a light like Jesus, when you live according to the entirety of His unfailing unchanging eternal words

Psalms 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path

.Proverbs 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

When you live a lifestyle in accordance to His words, you begin to shine as light in this crocked world.

Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Beloved brethren, always remember, you are a light that must shine like John the Baptist.

John 5:33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 5:35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

It is time beloved brethren to bring glory to God as you shine as light in this crocked world.

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world.

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 26, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Ye are the salt of the earth

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good for nothing - Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good for nothing - Matthew 5:13

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good for nothing – Matthew 5:13

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. – Matthew 5:13

Beloved brethren, Jesus began to speak with similitude, to all His followers of all ages and that includes you in particular.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. – Matthew 5:13

Without salt human life cannot be sustained.

Leviticus 2:13 And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.

Ezekiel 43:24 And thou shalt offer them before the LORD, and the priests shall cast salt upon them, and they shall offer them up for a burnt offering unto the LORD.

So beloved, you are to be seasoned with the gospel, with the salt of grace, which are : thoughts and affections, words and actions, all seasoned with grace.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. – Matthew 5:13

You must endeavour to have salt in yourselves, else you cannot diffuse it among others.

Mark 9:49 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

Luke 14:34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 14:35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

What are you as a Bible believing believers, must be to others ? You must not only be good but do good. What is this good? See this

Mark 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

You must be peaceable to all, no matter what they are doing to you.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

Romans 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 3:11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. – Matthew 5:13

Beloved, Bible believing believers that are peaceable are the true representative of the Prince of peace.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Receive grace to lift up the Prince of peace,. every where, following peace with all men. The good Lord shall help you in particular to do this and advance the kingdom of Christ in Jesus name.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. – Matthew 5:13

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 25, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake

Blessed are they which are persecuted and are reviled for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven - Matthew 5:10
Blessed are they which are persecuted and are reviled for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven - Matthew 5:10

Blessed are they which are persecuted and are reviled for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven – Matthew 5:10

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. – Matthew 5:10

Beloved brethren, the eight beatitude is the greatest of all the eight characters of the Bible believing believers like you that are heaven bound.

This is because those who
are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, are happy.

This is the greatest paradox of all, and peculiar to Christianity and therefore it is put last, and more largely insisted upon than any of the rest.

Beloved brethren, there are things that shall happen to you as a. Bible believing believer, that must not surprise you.

1. You shall be hated for no cause.

Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

John 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

1 John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

2. Don’t be surprised when you experience trials that seem not to be fair.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

3. It is appointed for us, it is called our light afflictions.

1 Thessalonians 3:3 That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. 3:4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Beloved brethren, see what the scriptures says about persecutions of believers like you.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Hebrews 11:35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: 11:36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: 11:37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented
Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

What are you supposed to do to be blessed.

1. Don’t deny the Lord.

2 Timothy 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 2:12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 2:13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

2. Don’t be separated from Him.

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 8:39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

3. Endure to the end.

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

4. You must not retaliate or recompense evil for evil.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. 12:17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Beloved, you shall be blessed as you welcome persecution and rejoice according to the word of Jesus.

Blessed are the peacemakers [ those who work for peace ]: for they shall be called the children of God [ sons of God ]. – Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9

Beloved brethren as you study the seventh character of Bible believing believers, that are heaven bound, I want you in particular to give utmost importance and attention to this seventh character.

You want to discover why they are called the children of God.

It is because of their preparedness and readiness always to bring joy to heaven. See this.

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

You will recount that as far back as the days of Adam, wilful sin had separated Him, from holy God.

Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9

No wonder the Bible says all have sinned and the wages of sin is death. Eternal separation from God.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Sinners have no peace because, they have been separated from the God of peace and the Prince of peace.

Isaiah 48:22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.

Isaiah 57:21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Psalms 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9

Their sins have brought separation and wall of pertion between them and God.

Isaiah 59:1 Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

Jesus vicarious sacrifice, broke this wall and brought peace between erring sinners and holy God.

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

But then, before this peace is attained, the gospel of peace must be preached to the sinners.

Isaiah 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

Nahum 1:15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9

This gospel of peace must be preached by Bible believing believers like you, who will broker peace between the erring sinners and holy God.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God..

2 Corinthians 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.

As all men are represented to be in a state of hostility to God and each other, the Gospel is called the Gospel of peace, because it tends to reconcile men to God and to each other. Hence our Lord here terms peace-makers the children of God:

Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Beloved brethren, the God of peace, shall send you his peace that passeth all understanding, as you engage in the ministry of brokering peace, between God and the erring sinners.

1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

The peace-makers are happy, Matthew 5:9. The wisdom that is from above is first pure, and then peaceable the blessed ones are pure toward God, and peaceable toward men

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. – Matthew 5:9

Knowing JESUS Daily Devotional | April 23, 2021 | THE BEATITUDES | Blessed are the pure in heart

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God - Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God - Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

Beloved brethren, this sixth character of heaven bound Bible believing believers like you, is the most comprehensive of all the beatitudes.

This is because, here holiness and happiness are fully described and put together. See it yourself.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

The pure in heart does not need to get to heaven, before they begin to see God.

Even here on earth on the account of the state of their pure hearts, they shall be seeing God, according to this unfailing, unchanging, eternal promise.

Deu 11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

Here is the most comprehensive comfort of the blessed

They shall see God. It is the perfection of the soul’s happiness to see God, seeing him, as we may by faith in our present state, is a heaven upon earth

You enjoy His presence and your prayers are always answered. You enjoy perfect health and all your needs are always met. . These are the days of heaven on earth.

In addition, seeing. Him as we shall see in the future state, is the heaven of heaven.

To see him as he is, face to face, and live with Him forever.

But then, how will these happy state be attained, knowing fully, that God places. great premium to the state of the heart of men. See it yourself.

1 Samuel 16:6 And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’s anointed is before him. 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

Beloved brethren, why do you need, purity of heart?

Because of the following reality about the state of the hearts of all unregenerated humanity.

Please examine your own heart as we discover what the scriptures says about the hearts of men without saving grace.

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Jeremiah 4:14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Mark 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 7:22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

It takes the precious blood of Jesus to purify the heart of man.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

The heart purity is attained by faith.

Act 15:9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

After you have attained purity of heart according to the Bible, then the following shall be your lifestyle.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

1 Timothy 1:5 Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1 Timothy 3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

1 Timothy 5:22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.

1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

There and then you shall begin to see God here and hereafter.

Psalms 24:3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? 24:4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

Beloved brethren, no doubt, blessed are the pure in heart, they shall see God here and in heaven.

This shall be your portion as you apply this heaven defining message in Jesus name.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God – Matthew 5:8

Blessed [ content, sheltered by God’s promises ] are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy [ treated mercifully ]. – Matthew 5:7

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. – Matthew 5:7

Beloved brethren, from the fifth character of the Bible believing believers that are heaven bound, Jesus reveals deep and high characters of those who will inherent the kingdom of God.

These remaining characters from the fifth one makes us to be like God Himself.

What exactly was Jesus saying, when He mentioned the merciful? See what He meant.

Luke 6:36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

You reach out to others in compassion and mercy and love, just like you also have received from God. See this again.

James 2:13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. – Matthew 5:7

When you show compassion and love to others you do it to God Himself.

Every one that showeth mercy to others, they show mercy to God from heaven, and every one that showeth not mercy to others, they show God no mercy from heaven;.

It is this that makes your being merciful to count.

Psalms 18:25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright

Those are the merciful, who are piously and charitably inclined to pity, help, and succour persons in misery. See what the scriptures says.

Matthew 18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt

Isaiah 58:7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

Isaiah 58:10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

Acts 20:35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Hebrews 13:1 Let brotherly love continue. 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 13:3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

1 John 3:17 But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. – Matthew 5:7

Beloved brethren, these merciful saints are blessed, because they shall receive the same reward from God.

Psalms 41:1 Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. 41:2 The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies. 41:3 The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

So receive grace and be biblically merciful like God and be blessed.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. – Matthew 5:7

Blessed [ nourished by God’s goodness ] are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. - Matthew 5:6
Blessed [ nourished by God’s goodness ] are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. - Matthew 5:6

Blessed [ nourished by God’s goodness ] are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

Beloved brethren, our Lord during His teachings on the sermon on the mount reveals eight distinguishing virtues and graces that made Bible believing believers like you to be blessed here and hereafter.

The forth of this distinguishing virtues, is insatiable passion and lounging after Christilikeness and godliness.

An insatiable desire for eternal things, much more than earthly pleasures.

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3:3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

This attribute, reflect the likes of Moses, who esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt:

Hebrews 11:25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; 11:26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

See it again.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

There is a world of difference, between this gracious attribute than, what the majority of those who profess religion in Christ, church today have.

This is because, they are following Christ for bread alone. See what Jesus said.

John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 6:27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

See the characters of the people, Jesus, spoke to and begin to examine yourself too.

They spend money and their time on things without eternal value.

Isaiah 55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

Amos 2:7 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

1 Corinthians 15:19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

The church of the Laodecian was a typical example.

Revelation 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

Beloved, look at this important beatitude again.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6

The beautitude marks a distinct stage in our Lord’s argument. It showcase a lifestyle of those who had an earnest longing for that right relation to God in which they were so lacking.

This is the positive stage. Intense longing, such as can only be compared to that of a starving man for food,. Such is sure to be satisfied.. But then, this lounging is after righteousness. After heavenly things. See how the scriptures described them.

Psalms 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

Psalms 42:1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. 42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

Psalms 63:1 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

Psalms 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

Isaiah 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Beloved, this is the singular pursuit and attribute of heaven bound believers.

Because you are desirous of living eternally with God, you are under compulsion to pattern your lifestyle after this nature of Christ.

The good Lord shall help you to attain it in Jesus name.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. – Matthew 5:6
