serve the Lord

Not slothful in business CALLED INTO SERVICE – Not slothful in business [ not lagging behind in diligence ]; fervent in spirit [ aglow ]; serve the Lord – Romans 12:11
Beloved, one major reason from time immemorial for which God our loving Father reached out to humanity and made them His people, was  for them to serve Him, wholeheartedly.
Remember, you are one of the people of God, He wants you too, to  serve Him with all your heart and all your soul.

Exodus 4:22-23. And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the Lord, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

Exodus 8:1. And the Lord spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

Exodus 8:20. And the Lord said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; lo, he cometh forth to the water; and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

Beloved, serving the Lord is so important that God used some of His servants to remind His people and encouraged  them to serve Him alone wholeheartedly. See some of these servants of the Lord.
1. Moses:

Deuteronomy 6:13. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Deuteronomy 10:12. And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

Deuteronomy 10:20. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

2. Joshua

Joshua 24:14-16. Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;

3. Samuel

1 Samuel 7:3.  And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.

1 Samuel 12:14. If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God:

Beloved, God your Father is never a task master. Anyone and everyone that renders acceptable services  to Him are rewarded here and hereafter. Wonderful rewards await you too.
So serve the Lord henceforth till Jesus comes with all your heart. See the rewards of rendering acceptable services  to the Lord.
Earthly rewards .

Exodus 23:25-26. And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.

Numbers 14:23-24. Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Numbers 32:11-12. Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me: Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the Lord.

Deuteronomy 11:13-15. And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil. And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

Job 36:11-12. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge.

Eternal reward.

Malachi 3:16-18. Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another:  and the Lord hearkened, and heard it,  and a book of remembrance was written before him. for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels;  and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.

Dearly beloved, glory to God in heaven for His unspeakable gift, of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:32. He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

2 Corinthians 9:15. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

This great gift is important to believers of all ages and you in particular, because Jesus did not just come  to redeemed us. He also came to show us, exemplary lifestyle of rendering acceptable service to our Father in heaven.
Our Lord served His Father, during His earthly ministry with unusual zeal with knowledge. See it described.

John 2:13-17. And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem, And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables; he said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise. His disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

See some of His exemplary acceptable service rendered to God, our Father.
At the age of twelve.

Luke 2:49. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

When His ministry just began, when He was thirty years.

Luke 3:23. And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

John 4:34. Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Middle of His ministry.

John 9:4. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

At the end of His ministry.

John 17:4. I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

No marvel, God our Father, gave Him, befitting rewards  for rendering acceptable service to Him.

Philippians 2:5-11. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Hebrews 12:2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Dearly beloved in the same way our Father rewarded our Lord. He also is resolute to do same to all believers of all ages and that includes you, who will render acceptable service to Him. What an open cheque for you?  See the expected  services , Jesus wants from you.

Matthew 28:18-20. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Mark 16:15. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Luke 19:13. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

John 21:15-17. So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? Also He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

Acts 1:8. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

See also the rewards  believers of all ages and you in particular, shall receive if you render  this acceptable service to Christ.

John 12:26. If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

John 14:1-3. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 17:24: Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

1 Peter 1:4  To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Revelation 2:25-29. But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star.  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Revelation 22:12. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

For believers of all ages and you not to miss these enviable rewards, the blessed Holy Spirit gave them and you, this all encompassing exhortation. See it.

Romans 12:11. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord

See how other Bibles amplifies this same scripture.

Romans 12:11Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

Romans 12:11. Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.

The blessed Holy Spirit also did not fail to describe the expected services. See some of them.

Romans 10:13-15. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

1 Corinthians 15:58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Colossians 3:23-24. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

Hebrews 12:28: Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:

Dearly beloved, see some Bible days believers who rendered acceptable services.
Paul

Romans 1:1. Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

Acts 20:18-19. And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons, Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

Acts 20:24. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

Epaphras

Colossians 4:12. Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Peter

2 Peter 1:1: Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

2 Peter 1:12-14 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

Jude

Jude 1:1: Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

vs 3. Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

John the beloved

Revelation 1:9. I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

John 21:24. This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

All of these brethren were wonderful rewarded at the end of their services. It is your own turn to pull out from eternal flames, all the unsaved people in your world of influence. May the Lord find you faithful in Jesus name.

Jude 1:22-23. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

EARTHLY AND ETERNAL REWARDS FOR RENDERING ACCEPTABLE SERVICES UNTO THE LORD  BY BELIEVERS OF ALL AGES, ESPECIALLY  YOU, ACCORDING TO ROMANS CHAPTER TWELVE VERSE ELEVEN
Friend, why must you attach so much importance to the all encompassing exhortation of the blessed  Holy Spirit to rendering acceptable service to the Lord?

Romans 12:11. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord

It is because, it will make your  efforts to partake in the dawning rapture, worthwhile. This is because, immediately we are assembled in the air with our Lord, He shall lead the entourage straight to the venue, where eternal rewards shall be given to us for rendering acceptable services to Him, while on earth.

Revelation 19:6-9. And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. He saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. Also he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.

Remember this , please don’t ever forget. One of the things, you shall be doing, that shall be part of what qualifies you for partaking in this  imminent event, is rendering acceptable service to the Lord. See it.

But then remember, it must be acceptable service. Unacceptable service shall disqualify multitude of carefree believers. You shall not be disqualified in Jesus name.

Romans 16:17-18. Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

2 Peter 2:1-3. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

But then acceptable service shall gain you enviable rewards, see some of them.

2 Timothy 4:7-8. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

1 Peter 5:1-4. The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Revelation 22:12. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

You shall not miss out in Jesus name. So be determined to render first, reasonable service, that separates you to Him in absolute obedience.

Romans 12:1-2. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Then secondly, acceptable service.

Romans 14:18-19. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Receive grace to do so in Jesus name.
