Beloved it is a great thing to praise the Lord, especially, because of His willingness to make His eternal truth known to His people.
Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
In the same way our Lord Jesus Christ opened the understanding of His disciples , so also the blessed Holy Spirit is doing today, to believers who are genuinely seeking the truth of the scriptures.
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Blessed art thou, O LORD Jehovah: teach me thy statutes [ your ways, commandments and ordinances ] – Psalms 119:12
No wonder king David on several occasions, besought the Lord to teach Him, His statues. See his earnest desires to be taught by God’s, revealed truth.
Psalms 25:4-5 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Psalms 86:11 Teach me thy way, O LORD; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.
Psalms 119:12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.
Psalms 119:26-27 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes. Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.
Psalms 119:33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 119:64 The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes. 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments. 119:68 Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes. 119:71 It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes. 119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. 119:108 Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD, and teach me thy judgments. 119:124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.
Blessed art thou, O LORD Jehovah: teach me thy statutes [ your ways, commandments and ordinances ] – Psalms 119:12
Beloved brethren, like David, you also must have passion to be taught by the blessed Holy Spirit, the truth of the scriptures. The reason for this you discover as you see this same passage of the Bible amplified.
Blessed art thou, O LORD Jehovah: teach me thy statutes [ your ways, commandments and ordinances ] – Psalms 119:12
1. Blessed art thou –
He must acknowledge the mercy of God, in so far preserving him from all the consequences of his sin.
He should beg of him to become his teacher that his heart and conscience might be instructed in the spirituality of his statutes.
2. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy statutes.
God’s statutes are really known to those only whom God teaches. By nature we have but a faint glimmer of their meaning. God must teach us by his Spirit ere we can apprehend them aright.
3. Here,
1. David gives glory to God: “Blessed art thou, O Lord! Thou art infinitely happy in the enjoyment of thyself and hast no need of me or my services; yet thou art pleased to reckon thyself honoured by them; assist me therefore, and then accept me.” In all our prayers we should intermix praises.
2. He asks grace from God: “Teach me thy statutes; give me to know and do my duty in every thing. Thou art the fountain of all blessedness; O let me have this drop from that fountain, this blessing from that blessedness: Teach me thy statutes, that I may know how to bless thee, who art a blessed God, and that I may be blessed in thee.”
Beloved when you have passion to be taught by the blessed Holy Spirit the statues of God and you are willing to be obedient to His teachings. Then your eternity with God is guaranteed.
Psalms 143:10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Blessed art thou, O LORD Jehovah: teach me thy statutes [ your ways, commandments and ordinances ] – Psalms 119:12
