Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted [ burden of sin is lifted].. - Matthew 5:4

Blessed [forgiven, refreshed by God’s grace] are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted [ burden of sin is lifted].. – Matthew 5:4

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:4

Dearly beloved brethren, we come to the second grace and virtue among the eight in the beautitude, that made Bible believing believers like you, blessed and heaven bound

They that mourn are happy .

Blessed are they that mourn.

This is another strange blessing, and fitly follows the former. The poor are accustomed to mourn, the graciously poor mourn graciously.

We are apt to think, Blessed are the merry but Christ, who was himself a great mourner, says, Blessed are the mourners.

But there is a gracious mourning, which qualifies for blessedness,

A penitential mourning for our own sins, this is godly sorrow,

2 Corinthians 7:9 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 7:11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:4

A sorrow according to God sorrow for sin, with an eye to Christ, the Saviour from all sins.

Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

In addition, God’s mourners, who live a life of repentance, who lament the corruption of their nature, and their many actual transgressions, and God’s withdrawings from them and who, out of regard to God’s honour, mourn also for the sins of others, and sigh and cry for their abominations,

1 Samuel 15:10 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, 15:11 It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night

Ezekiel 9:4 And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:4

Beloved brethren, see what the scriptures says about biblical mourners that shall be comforted and heaven bound.

Isaiah 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

James 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

Beloved, are you a biblical mourners? Are you sorrowful for your life of sin , that is bringing open shame to Christ or you justify your sins, like Adam, before God.

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Job 31:33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:4

Are you always having sorrow, when you see others , sinning flagrantly against God?

Acts 17:16 Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry. 17:17 Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

Beloved brethren, these are what it will take to be blessed and live eternally with God.

May the good Lord help you in particular to be wise unto salvation in Jesus name

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. – Matthew 5:4
