What does it mean to be poor in spirit. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 5:3

Matthew 5:3. Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Beloved settle it in your heart that God has good thoughts towards you and He is resolved determinedly to bless His saints on earth and at eternity . Glory to God you are one of them. You shall be blessed here and hereafter in Jesus name.

Jeremiah 29:11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Deuteronomy 28:1-6. And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

Psalms 36:8. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

However, always be mindful of this all important information. God blesses the poor in the spirit and not the proud. He has nothing but rejection and damnation for the proud. You shall not be damned in Jesus name. See it. While God associates with the poor in the spirit, He drives far from Him, the proud.

Psalms 138:6. Though the Lord be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Proverbs 3:34 Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

James 4:6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

1 Peter 5:5-6. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

Isaiah 57:15. For thus saith the high and lofty One. that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Beloved see what makes a saint, poor in the spirit and embrace it as a lifestyle until Jesus comes. Receive grace to do so in Jesus name.

Isaiah 66:2. For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Remember Jesus has been from eternity past with His Father, so when He began His earthly ministry. His provided ceaseless earthly and eternal desired blessings for the poor in the spirit alone.
See what He taught. You also shall benefit immensely from both His earthly and eternal desired blessings, but you must embrace the lifestyle of a poor in the spirit. The good Lord shall help you in Jesus name.
The Bible says Jesus your loving Saviour and God, your loving Father shall abase instead of blessing the proud.

Daniel 4:37. Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

See some of those God abased in Bible days , because of pride and avert it. : it shall never be your portion in Jesus name.
Lucifer:

Isaiah 14:12-15. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

Herod the king :

Acts 12:20-23. And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country. And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them. And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Beloved also remember this, God is going to prove your profession of being poor in the spirit. I pray you shall not fail Him in Jesus name.

Deuteronomy 8:2: And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.

See examples of Bible days people that went through the test of the Lord and were blessed for being poor in the spirit. Be determined never to be proud in the spirit but poor and you also shall be blessed in Jesus name.
King. Manasseh

2 Chronicles 33:9-13. So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel. And the Lord spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.Wherefore the Lord brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. And when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord he was God.

King. Josiah.

2 Chronicles 34:26-27. And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard; Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the Lord.

The patriarch Job.

Job 42:5-6. I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Job 42:10. And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

Dearly beloved, Jesus your Lord and Saviour was reputed to be meek and lowly in His lifestyle during His earthly ministry.

Matthew 11:29. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Philippians 2:5-8. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Because Jesus taught what He was doing, He taught believers of all ages, especially you to be poor in the spirit, if you are going to receive earthly and eternal desired blessings from Him.

Acts 1:1. The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

See what He did and taught and embrace it as a lifestyle till He comes.

Luke 6:20: ¶And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Matthew 18:1-3. At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Luke 18:10-14. Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Dearly beloved, you will discover that both in prophecy and reality, our Lord associates and blesses only the poor in the spirit. See them.

Isaiah 61:1: The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

Luke 4:18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Matthew 11:4-5. Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

Matthew 11:25: ¶At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

It is very important you do something for yourself now. Please examine yourself without being presumptuous. Find out whether you are living a lifestyle of somebody poor in the spirit or proud.

2 Corinthians 13:5. Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

If you discover that you are poor in the spirit, then sustain it until Jesus cones, but if you discover you are proud, see what the blessed Holy Spirit says for you also to receive desired earthly and eternal desired blessings from the Lord. They shall surely be yours in Jesus name. See it.

James 4:9 -10. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

JESUS’S EARTHLY MINISTRY PROVIDED DESIRED BLESSINGS FOR THE POOR AND NOT THE PROUD. COME NOW AND BE BLESSED.
Friend, heaven is a. very beautiful place, the raptured saints shall live with Jesus for all eternity.
But you need to remember that lucifer the son of the morning, the anointed cherub, was driven out of the place, because of pride. Pride shall not hinder you from going there in Jesus name.

Ezekiel 28:11-18. Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

No wonder our Lord taught believers who wishes to live with Him in His Father’s Kingdom or be part of the dawning rapture to be poor in the spirit and not be proud.

Luke 6:20: ¶And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

No doubt your mind is set to be part of this event. It shall not elude you in Jesus name. But then, you must cultivate the lifestyle of the poor in the spirit . See how the scriptures describe it.

Psalms 34:18: The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalms 51:17: The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Proverbs 16:19: Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Proverbs 29:23: A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Isaiah 57:15: For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Isaiah 66:2: For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that ispoor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Friend the good Lord has shown you what will make your dream come true. Receive grace to do it in Jesus name.

Micah 6:8: He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
