Dearly beloved brethren, it is a good thing to thank and praise the Lord.
Psalms 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
But then you must realise thanksgiving and praise are sacrifices, which must be done in holiness. This is because God is holy.
Psa 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
Psalms 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Exodus 15:11 Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
Hebrews 13:12 -15 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 13:14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Psa 29:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name;worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
Psa 96:9 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness:fear before him, all the earth.
Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth [ sincere sacrifice of praise ], O LORD, and teach me thy judgments. – Psalms 119:108
God shall not receive the sacrifice of a wicked person.
Pro 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord:but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
Pro 21:27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
Beloved brethren you must be obedient to the word of God, for Him to accept your thanksgiving and praise, because He magnified His word above any praises.
Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
God wants our obedience in all things first, before our praises to Him.
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
This was the utmost desire of king David. Having known the mind of God, he was desirous to offer Him praises tied to His obedience to His words. See it.
Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth [ sincere sacrifice of praise ], O LORD, and teach me thy judgments. – Psalms 119:108
