God’s counsel shall stand.

The  counsel of God shall stand

Proverbs  19:21 There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

The devil and his cohorts and his human agents will tirelessly labour to undo God’s purpose in the lives of His saints, but ultimately they will fall absymally.  Listen to examples.

1. Pharaoh against Israel.

Exodus  5:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.  5:2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.

King Saul against David.

1 Samuel  20:27 And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?  20:28 And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:  20:29 And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favour in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king’s table.  20:30 Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?  20:31 For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.  20:32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?  20:33 And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

King Herod against the church in Jerusalem.

Acts  12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.  12:2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.  12:3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)  12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.  12:6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.  12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.  12:8 And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.  12:9 And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.  12:10 When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.  12:11 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the LORD hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

God will always foil their cruel plans and schemes

Job  5:12 He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.

Isaiah  8:9 Associate yourselves, O ye people, and ye shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all ye of far countries: gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and ye shall be broken in pieces.  8:10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.  8:11 For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,  8:12 Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.  8:13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

But then while God continues to foil their cruel plans, He will ensure His counsel for His people come to pass. This He did for Israel against Pharaoh,  David against king Saul and the church in Jerusalem against king Herod

Isaiah  14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:  14:26 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.  14:27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

Isaiah  43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Isaiah  46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:  46:11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.

Athaliah, the daughter of Jezebel, the mother of Ahaziah king of Judah killed all the seed in the lineage of king David, but God used

Jehosheba to hid  Joash of the lineage of king David and when He was six years they anointed him kind and kill Athaliah who made her self queen in Judah.

2 Kings  11:1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.  11:2 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain.  11:3 And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.  11:12 And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.  11:13 And when Athaliah heard the noise of the guard and of the people, she came to the people into the temple of the LORD.  11:14 And when she looked, behold, the king stood by a pillar, as the manner was, and the princes and the trumpeters by the king, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew with trumpets: and Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, Treason, Treason.  11:16 And they laid hands on her; and she went by the way by the which the horses came into the king’s house: and there was she slain.

Every counsel of the devil against God’s plan concerning our lives shall fail in Jesus name.

Let us pray.
